Does anyone know if supaguard is worth the money.
Received my STI WRX on Saturday and picked up a leaflet on Supaguard, costs about £250.
Or is there an alternative.

I too would be interested to know as the salesman really tried hard to get me to buy it when we ordered the girlfriends new car.

I would personally rather use a decent wax instead but thats just me

IF there is a product you prefer let me know what it is and why you like it.
I used Mer on the old car and it seemed very nice, managed to get a whole pot of the Polish that my local Subaru garage used to polish my new car with, must say it looked lovely when I picked it up.
Why can I never get the cars to look how they do????

I had it put on many of my cars although I didn't get the bonnet done on my wrx, all around the skirts etc & not a bl00dy mark. On the bonnet.....guess I'll get a respray?!

It has been great stuff but you may want to try armourguard as well.

I swear by it, yes it is expensive but it saves the stone chips & resprays!!!

2 types, first is almost car sprayed on, & you won't even know its there. Bit like a lacquer finish & you needn' polish for upto 3 years.

The other is a thick plastic sheeting which Porsche mainly use but as it is sheeting you can often see the joins & they are unsightly but do the job

bet you cant wait. What colour did you go for? Blue/black and is it prodrive version?

I have often wondered about supaguard but have learnt that you can keep showroom shine if you polish regularly (but not too regularly with an abrasive like Mer).

I've got a blue/black sti which I've had supaguarded. Liked the black car more than the blue, but experience tells me they are a pain to look after. Am pleased i had it done. With winter weather covering the thing in crap all the time, I get it washed and it looks like it's been polished. Water just beads on the surface. However, I can't comment on the longevity. I think it boils down to personal choice. Love Subarus, hate polishing.

I had it done to the Terzo when I bought it 13 mths ago.

Rip off, just give it a good clean & polish, something like autoglym and save yourself £250.00

Ah hah...Supagaurd

Well well...gues what it is made in switzerland (Basel) on the german swiss border. Apart from the interior stuff (another form of scotchguard £7.50 in the shops) and the vinyl stuff (around £6.5) The main bit for the paintwork or applied using a filled sponge that contains a product (ala Acrylic Paint Sealant). Read the manufacturers bumpf it will last for several years but has its faults which quite rightly they admit in that it not possible to protect againt bird bomb and other nasties. The manufacturer does state that after application one has to regularly maintain the surface finish by waxing and shampooing.

If anyone would like the treatment and have the car waxed afterwards I can supply ONE ONLY supagaurd kit and the price includes a full mutts nuts valet as well plus some shampoo and wax to keep the motor looking the dogs danglies for many many moons.

The cost £175 cash. Thats me coming to you and spending a day pulling the motor apart, a full valet and a supagaurd treatment plus a supply of wax and shampoo.

We used to sell Supaguard and realised it wasnt as good as it is cracked up to be and went back to Diamondbrite.
Diamondbrite is by far the better, and when done properly, lasts a fair time as well.
Recently it has been appearing on the black market though, and being watered down etc resulting in some negative feedback for all the wrong reasons, but if you get it done legitimately then you cant go wrong.

We have done Scooby's, BMW's, Cosworths, Porsches, Ferrari's, a Jag XJ220 ( yes really! ) and a whole load more and not had one complaint or unhappy customer in 2 and a half years.
We charge just short of £200 for the full treatment inside and out, and it is guaranteed as well (unlike some of the dodgy watered down. pi55ed in black market stuff)

According to my wife, who worked for a main dealer a few years back, the Supaguard kit only cost about £25 at the time (a bit more now of course with inflation), so the dealer makes a killing even taking into account the labour.

Salesman tried to get me to do this, but I resisted. Then they cocked up with delivering my car, so I made a fuss and they threw it in for free - so it obviously doen't cost them much!!!!

You get window etching included as well.

Funny, I was just gonna ask this same question about Supagard

I'm getting an Import via Bentley's of Sheffield on March 1st.

Just had some leaflets through the post from them and one of them is about this Supagard.

They are charging £199 inc VAT for the full internal and external treatments with a 3 year guarantee... bit cheaper than Dave(mccltd) has been quoted...

Hmmm...do I or don't I ????

I like the idea of it, hate polishing cars, a quick blast with the jet wash, soapy sponge and leather off is ALL I'm prepaid to do so maybe its worth it for me!

Great job, lots of cool bits to go with it :D

My missus was cajoled into having this done on a s/h white Nissan Primera and in my opinion it was a complete waste of a lot of money! Just a couple of weeks later you could see stains on the paintwork which would not come off with washing and there was virtually no shine on the car. I T-cut the bonnet to remove the stains (two attempts!) and gave it a coat of Mere before taking the car back and telling them that this is the way it should look. They re-coated the whole car and quite frankly it`s crap.
For the money you could get a Wax Wizard kit and do a proper job!

Timo - I take it you are a dealer/supplier/outlet as you seem to be sure of the price of a kit and the "trap" ? I buy it in bulk and know for a fact it is not £25 a kit, maybe cheapo watered-down black market / Ebay stuff is.
