For those who can't be bothered to wait for the download - It is a race between a Skyline, Evo 6 and Scoob around and Ice track...

Excellent footage of r - foot braking and some good head to head, slippy slidey racing...

Opens up all sorts of discussions on permanent 4WD etc as per earlier thread !

haha, from the lancer forums... hmmm, I wonder if the drivers of the cars are named Tatsuo Mitsubishi, Shimbun Mitsubishi and Masahiro Mitsubishi, hmmm ;)

Nah, seriously,I always have difficulties believing anything if not seen/tested myself.

SecretAgentMan 19 February 2002 07:56 PM

These tests say very little about the cars....I'd preffered to se the same driver do a few laps in each car. ;)

Tires makes stunning difference on ice...

I'm just trying to find excuses... :D

THe Evo is much more tailhappy than the Impreza...so is the GTR...the Skylark must be summat limited by it's bulk, otherwise it'd been faster than the Impreza as well.

Our cars do understeer (on power) quite badly if not driven properly...time for that quaife ATB methinks. :D

Yep I definetly think in those sort of conditions the tyre choice and driver (90%) make the biggest difference. I watched a program on the beeb a whilst back about a Post Office van driver who works in deepest scotland and drives in all conditions with his van - he thought he was something special. The program sent him to finland IIRC to a police driving school and he didnt have a clue. Then the instructor took him for a spin and was driving at like 70 mph under complete control - they even threw boxes etc representing animals on blind corners at him and he just manouvred around them with ease.

Yeah that was "so you think yer a good driver" init but anyway was clearly more about the drivers as just from the footage of pedals the evo driver seemed 2 squeeze the accelerator when required whereas the others seemed a little more heavier which also seemed reflected in the lines they took so i agree it was totally due to the drivers as after that 1st lap or so they didnt loose as much time.
Besides did u c that cheeting evo swine at the start i dunno i suppose he needed a head start;):p lol
Good stuff thou:)

P1Fanatic, I've been driving my WRX in Finland in winter conditions for 7000Km now... the japanese guy driving on the circuit with the Sti is a total newbie around the corners! My WRX is just wonderful around bends on slippery surfaces powersliding far from that terrible style on the video...

Like I said, the drivers surnames must have been Mitsubishi ;)

P.S
I heard Juha Kankkunen has a WRX as one of his drives, maybe he could show some moves :)
