It all depends on how it was drained.

If the box was in the car when drained then it will take 3.5 ltrs to bring it back up to the correct level as 1/2 ltr stays in the transfer casing.

If the box has been stripped & rebuilt & is completely empty it will take 4 ltrs.

4 litres of castrol syntrax. this is enough to slightly overfill it which is what you want to do - to protect 3rd. did mine the other day. the difference was immdediate. smother changes with no notches. £40 from halfords.

Use Castrol Syntrax 75w90 for your box or you could find that you have problems with your gear changes :thumb:

Sorry to jump in guys i have a 1996 wrx import can you use the syntrax for the rear diff also?

no, use castrol syntrax, you wont be dissapointed. worth the money
