"Man Flu"

Is anyone else sick of this term ?

Just spent most of Christmas hacking my guts up, shivering like a sickly Poodle, alternately boiling then freezing, not eating anything and generally feeling miserable and every time anyone rings or turns up my missus says something like "He's got a Cold" (usually in a skeptical tone) and the woman (its always a female) responds "Man Flu", and she says "Yeah".

I have never claimed I had Flu, just a fookin horrible cold, not after any sympathy but its annoying when you actually feel pretty awful for someone to basically take the p1ss, like I am making up wincing when I cough because it hurts my ribs.

What may happen, like last time, I was offered no consideration and made to carry on with my normal tasks feeling like sh1te as obviously I was making it up and then, lo and behold she copped for it and it was probably the worst illness ever and involved 2 days in bed and a slight backtrack on its severity.

So, gentlemen, let us stamp this out before they introduce "Man Cancer" or other "Man" branded illnesses.

Got it myself - feel like sh1te.

Jamo 28 December 2008 09:43 AM

yup, had it for a few days now seems to get worst day by day not better :(

I feel ok today, apart from not daring to cough.

Peed off as got it off a colleague who was off for a week before Christmas, had a moan at me about cyclists getting in his way and I thought he was joking but was actually venting his ire on me and as his revenge for occasionally having to wait 10 seconds to overtake a bike he spent all day hacking his germs up all over me, no wonder he had it longer, spends all night on online games and his lunch every day is a Pot Noodle or Princes Lunch Bowl which is a little pot of massively disgusting curry, cant imagine that offers much in the way of vitamins to fight illness.

Just had a litre of Innocent smoothie - the super fruit one.

That's my effort towards fighting it off.

Oh, and another thing (see, its easy playing at being a woman)

Her mate who turned up last night clutching her f*cking pile of sh1t computer for me to sort out also said "Man Flu", missing the irony that every time we ask her how she is she says not good, she spent the whole of Christmas in bed, just so tired all the time yet as far as I know, no medical reason has been found ao I tend to avoid mentioning medical issues around her.

If someone really has to say something, A simple "hope you are feeling better soon" would suffice.

I think my brother in law though better of saying anything as he cancels nine out of ten nights out due to some mysterious illness so I think he though he may be on shaky ground and I to be honest was ready to point out the irony.

Peed off I got it at Christmas, whats wrong with mid January, not had a sickie in five years or more !

I'm not going to say it J4CKO. My other half has been really poorly over Christmas. He was in bed all day Christmas eve, with two quilts and still freezing cold. My Son has it now :(

It is a phrase used by the mentally challenged far far too often. The kind of people that ejaculated every time Peter Kay said "garlic bread"...
