OIL PRESSURE GAUGE
 

I WAS WONDERING IF ANYBODY HAD FITTED ONE OF THE ABOVE I HAVE BEEN BOUGHT ONE BUT AM A LITTLE UNSURE AS TO HOW TO FIT IT I.E. WHERE DOES THE SENDER FIT TO,DOES ANYBODY HAPPEN TO HAVE A PICTORAL DIAGRAM SO I KNOW WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR,MY CAR IS AN MY95 UK SPEC,ALSO ONCE I HAVE MANAGED TO FIT IT WHAT SORT OF PRESSURE SHOULD I HAVE,ALL HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANKS TO ALL THAT HELP ME OUT WITH THIS THREAD:)

Hi, the sender fits to the oil pressure switch location, just under the alternator.It has a single wire to it.
The senders are often too large to fit there, so an LMA adaptor is needed(i fitted one, see my profile pic, the sender is bolted on the front of the inlet manifold).
This allows you to keep the oil pressure switch too.

You dont need any of the above.The sender is a direct replacement for the factory fitted switch under the alternator (unless you plan on retaining the original oil pressure light) which IMO is pointless if you have a gauge because by the time the light comes on its too late anyway.The adaptor is only required if you are fitting an oil temp gauge as the original blanking plate is too big for the sender (located under the intercooler) oil pressures vary from car to car but in an ideal world it should read 6-7 bar on cold idle,2-3 bar on warm/hot idle and 6-7 bar when driving

I kept the oil pressure switch, as it's good for oil changes when priming the engine before starting(oil light goes out when good pressure is reached). Also, it's nice to have the lights working as they should, especially when selling the car on.
But thats just me!
