Powering System/ Battery Sag

Merry Crimbo to all

I have a reasonable system in my car but I am finding when played at louder levels my battery is sagging, ie at night my headlights dim a little even when on the motorway.
Can anyone recommend what I could do to stop this?

Thanks
Steve

Hi MFS

When you say reasonable what exactly do you mean ? Are you running a couple amps? Sub etc?

I would check your earths and make sure they are solid and connected well to bare metal for starters

**edited to say just had a look at your car in your profile ** ..

When was the last time you changed the battery ? If its been a while it might need replacing ..

Hi Naf

I have just sent you a pm with my system details didnt want to add it to the thread.
Not sure how old the battery is i've had the car about a year though,

No worries Steve

If I were you I would get that battery checked out , could be there since day one and might not be holding a full charge

I will get the battery checked and the earths

Merry Christmas

If you are still running on the OEM battery then I would advise to get rid and get a calcium battery. Also check your battery connections are tight and free from corrosion.

I run a calcium battery under the bonnet for cranking the car and a deep charge leisure battery in the boot on a spilt charge system, I still get headlight dimming but only on tick over. The batteries have never gone flat on me.

Don't be tempted to get a stiffening capacitor because when you are running the system at high volumes the capacitor discharges and then needs recharging, resulting in even more strain on the charging system., they look flashy but I would advise you stay away.
