I understand replacing the MY00 ECU for an earlier one will improve performance? So how do I get hold of one?? & what can expcet to pay??

Before looking into that, check which ECU you have - some MY00's have good ones. The green ones are pants (like mine :D), the black ones seem to be the best to have. Unless you are lucky enough to have one of the pinkies...
(AE802 green, AE800 black, & AE801 brown but seems OK).

Someone out there who has the peculiar burner needed for the chip type could do a very nice little trade here, if possibly not a very legal one (??)
