ford TDCI 2.0 or 2.2 diesel info plzzz
looking to buy a second car was hopeing someone would be clued up on the ford tdci engine , iv heard some good things but alot of bad stuff -
mass flywheel - injectors fail fuel pumps fail water pumps fail . looking for pros and cons on the ford tdci engine or an alternative diesel to tow a trailer + motocycle . |
id go for the Honda or Mazda or indeed VW :D ) having got the mondeo
however all these modern diesels are going to have similar prooblems otherwise apparently the 150 2.2 feels a little more powerful smoother , iv got the 2.0. of course you could chip it ( but for the clutch etc) |
tdci

Go on Main Index - Main Page of Mondeo Enthusiasts Group - Powered by FusionBB for info - but think how many mondeos are running about as taxis etc against how many people have reported problems with them?.

As above there are some that have problems but look how many are fine , i bought the wife one 2 years ago it was only 2.5 years old mondeo 2.0l tdci zetec s comes with the 18 alloys wrap round bumpers cost about £20,000 new , it still had warrenty full service history £7,700 it been fine apart from a engine management light which i first thought was injectors but was just a blocked fuel filter .

thanks for the info gents ,
just been to the local taxi office spoke to a few of the drivers there , they are not impressed with the ford mondeo tdci so i think ill give it a miss . as the old saying goes they dont make em like they used to youngin .:thumb: |
Just to add i had the fly wheel and clutch replaced on my TDCI mondeo, was at 120k miles though.
I think any car at circa 100k miles you have to start expecting something big is going to go at some point. They are really good cars to drive though and can be bought cheap. I would still recommend one |
I've had my '53 TDCI 130 for 14 months and 9,000 miles (51k to 60k).
Nothing bar consumables replaced so far, which is surprising as its the Ghia X model with all the toys.... Was surprised at the exhaust costing £300 though. |
Had a Berligo Multispace for the last 5 yrs .HDI .
Cant fault it .Shifted loads of **** to tip etc, moved fridges ,cookers ,rubble etc ,etc . Only let us down once when battery went flat on driveway . Just replaced brake discs after 5yrs and 45 k miles .:thumb: |
to tdci or not tdci
thanks for the info people i may still consider one
thanks again for the info :thumb: |
Wife has had a 2007 2.0L TDCi Focus from new,no probs at all not even the dreaded clutch slip with a remap and 385Nm of torque.

We have a 54 Mondeo 2.0 TDCI Ghia estate 130 and I think its great. Huge car, comfy, climate, elec seats, auto headlights and wipers, 6 speed about 35mph/1000revs in 6th, its really nippy for the size and ours returns about 45mpg . My brother in law has had a 52 similar spec for about 2 years about 30K miles and never spent a penny on repairs and hes getting 50+ mpg doing more motorway miles. It was driving his that made me go and buy ours.
I think the mass flywheel issue is relevant to all diesels like this, my sister has a 53 Vectra 2.0 diesel and has just spent £1200 having the clutch etc replaced. I have just sold a Transit connect 2.0 TDCI and that was very under powered. We also have a 1.9 Citreon Dispatch which is guttless. You could have a butchers on Mondeo Forum for some more info. |
tdci
thanks for the info realy interesting stuff :thumb:
