DELETED DUMP VALVES........
who has removed their dump valves and how long has the car "lasted"
and do you drive the car hard without one fitted? fancy taking mine out but not if its gonna blow my engine. i know ppl have mixed views so only ppl that have done this need reply thanks :) |
Will be good to hear the replies as i am going down this route myself (just finnished cutting a blanking plate for the intercooler, only need to drill and paint it)
My brother ran his XR4x4 without a dumpvalve and it was fine, but he sometimes got surge which made it interesting in traffic with the car wanting to lurch forward (in the days before mapping) I talked to Mark at Lateral when i bought my turbo and he said he was happy to warrant the turbo with me not running a dumpvalve but not if I wanted to run anti lag. Im getting mapped on the 23rd so will let you know how i get on. Graeme |
what do you mean your bro got surge and the car wanted to "lurch" forward.
my gf is currently using the car and she cant drive at the best of times lol |
Because there was still boost in the system which wanted to make the car accellerate till it was used up (was never anything major though), been told with propper mapping this can be negated. just speaking from memory as it was about 13years ago he had the car

Depends on what model car/turbo you have..
No dump valve is ok on TD series and garret based turbos, but not on VF jobbies.. |
been running mine for about 4 months without one with no problems. I drive it as hard as I did when I had one fitted. Sounds good with my Apexi Filter fitted

No dump valve is ok on TD series and garret based turbos, but not on VF jobbies.. I've been running no DV on my VF35 for nearly a year now. TDs pretty much bombproof by all accounts. Throttle transitions more jerky without a DV on a MAF based ECU, other than that it's all good; the noise is great! Ns04 |
Im just on the look for a noisy one what would be the advantage of removing one that does not make any noise ??

VF30 onwards is fine, not one ones before that though, they're more fragile.

I'm on MAF based ECU, and smooth as silk DV-less, but I am blow through.. And yes, the sound is better then any DV.. :D |
What parts do you use to block them off ?
:wonder: Cheers |
why do people remove there dv? what does it do?
|
buy a dumpvalve that you can adjust. have mine on hardest setting so only dumps after 6000 revs. tried blocking off dumpvalve and car made exactly the same turbo stall noise as before.
only difference was no whoosh noise after 6k from the DV, but the chatter noise was no different at all |
Might try it on my twin scroll then.I went dv less on my classic type r with a 20G turbo and that drove fine.
Where do i get the blanking plate for the i/c on 2005 Spec C? |
I am running no DV at all, and mafless, love everything about it!
|
I blanked mine off but and had no noise at all :(
what did I do wrong lol? |
