How much power will wrx rods take?
 

I'm rebuilding with forged pistons, but am unsure as to whether or not the standard newage wrx rods are suitable. They've been running 325ish with no problem but I'm looking to up the power around 380/400 bhp. Plenty of people seem to be running this power level on wrx engines, so whats the personally experienced verdict. :thumb:

They'll be fine at that sort of level. However as above, if you're going to the trouble of a rebuild then I'd definetly change the rods, then you'll have peace of mind and know that your whole engine is upto the job not just part of it.

In my experience cutting corners always comes back to bite you!!

+1 :thumb: And I've leaned that without going to anywhere near the expense Daz has gone to with his cars.

Whats the difference between newage wrx rods and sti rods then (classic and newage)?:wonder:

There's no difference in rods between WRX and STI.

There is a difference though between classic rods and new age rods with classic rods being the stronger.

Newage rods will cope with 400bhp no problem but If you've already got the engine apart, stick some rods in, even if they are a set of £350 eagles which will be better than stock rods.
