SPOTY

Apparently the viewers will be able to vote for the Sports Personality of the Year during the show.

Will you vote? If so who for? Its from the final 10 see below.
Me I'm going to vote for Lewis. (not PSLewis, Hamilton)

SPORTS PERSONALITY TOP 10
Rebecca Adlington
Ben Ainslie
Joe Calzaghe
Nicole Cooke
Lewis Hamilton
Chris Hoy
Andy Murray
Christine Ohuruogu
Rebecca Romero
Bradley Wiggins

Surely the winner should have a ‘personality’ in the 1st place?

That would rule Lewis Hamilton out. He’s one of the few people that make Nigel Mansell appear bubbly and effervescent.

That is quite wrong and apears to demonstrate prejudice, rather an accurate opinion. You would have to go some to be behind Mansell!

No Mark Cavendish? 4 stage wins in this years Tour de France.

Maybe 4 cyclists in the top ten was enough, got to be Chris Hoy for my vote :thumb:

davegtt 11 December 2008 11:08 AM

you not set this up as a poll?

r32 11 December 2008 11:16 AM

SPOTY you vote

Who would you vote for?

Pumpkin 11 December 2008 11:17 AM

The cycling vote seems to be split between 4 which seems daft.

And I agree that the term 'personality' is wrong. Sportsman is more appropriate.

LH will probably win but its a shame the Olympians who only come to public view every 4 years will miss out.

No, it's personality as in:
a famous, notable, or prominent person; celebrity.

Not personality as in:
the visible aspect of one's character as it impresses others

My vote would go to Chris Hoy, Murray has had a great year but he won't win this until he wins Wimbledon.

I suspect if Cav/Brad had won Gold @ the Olympics he would have been....

Chris Hoy gets my vote....

I don't know what some them do :wonder: ....or even who they are are! :lol1:

WRX_Dazza 11 December 2008 11:36 AM

Andy Murray??? ....... PMSL :)

Spoon 11 December 2008 11:42 AM

IN all fairness it has to go to Chris Hoy.

Watching all the Olympic cycling was superb viewing and Hoy was outstanding.

ChrisB 11 December 2008 11:51 AM

I'd like Hoy to win. I went to Revolution 22 at the Manchester Velodrome last weekend and the reception Hoy got (his first races since the Olympics) was fantastic. Top night of racing if anyone is tempted to go.

PeteBrant 11 December 2008 11:52 AM

Lewis Hamilton for me.

I had to google Chris Hoy to find out who he is.

As you can see, I'm a huge fan of the O limp kicks.

I never knew there were so many bicyclists on SN. Who'd have thought... :D

Sports? All self-important, self-obsessed, egotistical wastes of space..IMO!

Tidgy 11 December 2008 12:25 PM

chris hoy or bradley wiggins for me, they won in there respective sports yet they seem to have more personality than a wet paper bag

Klaatu 11 December 2008 12:25 PM

Well it is an opinion poll. My opinion doesn't fit in with the narrow options on offer.

Then why bother posting on it?

The options on offer are those nominated for the spoty award, it's not a poll about "do you like sports?"

Personally Lewis should have won the F1 title last year for me to choose him.

I guess the general public will vote for Lewis as, lets face it, he's more of a household name than Chris Hoy and if somebody posts on this site claiming to not have heard of him, well, I find that staggering but proof in itself.

dpb 11 December 2008 12:52 PM

I reckon rewarding Nicole Cooke will do more fro promoting the sport and promoting sportsmanhip in general :thumb:

Yes, Hamilton will probably win it, even though he doesn't deserve to win it and i won't watch the program for the very same reason.
Another British farce of a program.

stilover 11 December 2008 12:57 PM

I'll vote Chris Hoy.

Hamilton will win on the night though.
