removing graphics!
 

hey.. ok i have a P1 with full graphics (i know bad but i bought them on the car) some people love them, some people hate them.. i initially liked them when i first got the car, but i have soon got bored of them.

Would it be risky removing them? i can't afford a re-spray if it leaves 'shadowing' on the paintwork would a full mop sort this or would it be under the laquer?

I am unsure how long they've been on the car, it is a 2001 so a maximum of 7 years (that sounds so old now)

Im in the same boat as you. (view my scoob), and want to remove mine. I did remove two crap ones, and then used tar and bug remover to get rid of any stickyness. But in some random angles you could see some of the lettering (but not that bad), so I imagine a whole car full you'd see quite a few.
So what I'm going to attempt is to remove them all with the use of a hair drier, and use the bug and tar remover again. Then get a local lad who is a mint valeter to get his electric polisher out and he said about some 'rough polish'.....not sure what this is, but I trust him with it.

So, hopefully it will come out alright!


Edit: A lad called Rob (stiscooby) said to use the Bug and Tar remover, then Scratch-X, which I did, but was freezing my tits off so didnt put too much effort in to the two I removed, but I could imagine this working fairly well. He did the same to his, but could still see some shadows, but his brother who works in a bodyshop (i think) got it all sorted.

Hey.. ahh.. since posting the thread i have spoken with somebody who can mop a car and said that a mop should sort any shadowing out..

if you get it done before me let me know how you get on! although i think yours would of been on for less time than mine,

i always thought if it did come out bad, i could always get some applied again newer and cleaner though!

basically an electric polisher.. like an angle grinder but with a sponge instead of a cutting blade lol..

he has since sent me an email to say he shares my concerns though :S, basically said he doesn't know until you start to get em off.

Oh right, I see! Yeah my friend is going to use a mop as well. Fingers crossed it all comes out! :)
