This is the reply i got:

Thank you for your interest in my car. Here are some details I think you may find useful: 2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5 WRX SL SALOON. No accidents, no damages, no scratches, non smoker, excellent condition, full UK specs, Clear Title, full service history, UK supplied car (NOT AN IMPORT) still registered in UK.
The price is £5,500. The car can be delivered anywhere in the UK (delivery included in the sale price). I have already arranged for shipping and UK delivery with a shipping company that will handle everything on my behalf .
Please let me know if you're interested so I can provide you further details.
If you agree with my above terms, I'm sure that we can close the deal as soon as possible.
I have reserved the car for you until I will have your final answer.

Respectfully,
Mike

i could be way off the mark here but i tend to find the word shipping as a foreign word,as in if i was to say delivery was in the price it sounds english(i know it does say uk delivery)but once the word shipping pops up it seems to me that it is someone not uk based.as i say i could be wrong, try for a phone number and see who you get.or try the trick route of when it is due its tax for one and use the dvla tax checker to see if what he tells you matches what they do.

It's a scam , no phone number is a giveaway.
There's loads of car on Autotrader with either no number or a fake number and then some crap in the ad saying the phone is broken and you have to email them :cuckoo:

Scam.

LUCKO 08 December 2008 01:50 AM

you have to ask if its a scam

what world do you live in?

people dont sell cars for 3 or 4k less than they are worth without leaving a phone number

I think LUCKO is telling you it's a scam :)

MikeCardiff 08 December 2008 08:40 AM

100% scam - apart from the fact its obviously much too cheap, the giveaway is the 'shipping included' part - what this means is he doesnt want you to come and collect, because the car doesnt exist ( or at least, hes never owned it or seen it ) - you send him your payment, probably by Western Union to to Italy or Nigeria as he is 'working over there at the moment' and he will get the car delivered to you.

If you need proof, email him back and say you want to view the car, then wait for the excuses as to why you cant.

SunnySideUp 08 December 2008 09:03 AM

Shipping = Scam.

Delivery Included = Scam.

The car is on the cheap end of where it should be, so why would they need to reserve or deliver? ...... Scam

They are getting clever though, as the price is not too low to make it ridiculous - makes you think that it 'may' be credible. But it's not, in this case ;)

Sorry mate but saw a 2006 black wrx sell for £6100, so they do sell for peanuts!:(

monty1 08 December 2008 06:31 PM

just done a check on the dvla website and its a wrx blue 4 door saloon.

Cheap Car Parts, Engines & 4x4 Parts. Used Euro Car Parts & Spares From Online Breakers have a reg search facility at the dvla and its free.
deffo a scam imo.

tony

piston heads have removed it.

A full-on scam without a doubt.

The wording in the reply is very typical of scam wording. It's a way of getting certain details from you, which I won't elaborate on here. Let's just say that usually just a simple bona fide name and address of a UK resident is enough for them to achieve what they want to illegitimately.;)

It appears to be very 'Russian type' English wording.
