We've just booked for a fortnight in Lanzarote - supposed to be nice.

Got it through Lunn Poly in their "Blue Cross" sale. Full cost for a 1 bed apartment, with lounge, kitchen, pool etc was £1300 for 2 of us - should have been about £1800.

Try them

Lanzarote is lovely. Recommend it :)

Thanks guys......

....I might change my mind on the Canaries as they seem to be right silly money at the moment (espcially around Easter time). I've got 7 days SC in the past for as little as £175-200 and its double that at the moment  ...No doubt its cause the kids are off school, etc, etc

Lanzarote, Fuerta or GC are all good places for a hol, been to them all:D Always hot and fine, and most important cheap;) Best time to go is june we've found as the prices are well down on normal. Good places for duty free as well, and cameras, and radar detectors etc etc etc:D
Have a good un'

Dont overlook the Gambia. We jsut got back from a weeks b & b in a 3* hotel, which was flights, and all transfers for 299 each.

And the temperature was low-mid 30s and it was cheap too.

Look on lastminute.com, or do a last ditch one with Teletext. People we met stayed for jut over 220 quid on the same deal as us but booked 2 days before.

IF you want more info about Gambia, just ask me, DomA/KimA, Funkii Munkii..........

All holidays are expensive at the moment, due to the NYC thing. Holiday companies reduced their capacity for this summer thinking people would not want to travel. However, the bookings are coming up to the normal level now so demand will start to exceed supply.

Hence they will put their prices up. The companies monitor bookings and prices on a daily basis and will adjust holiday prices according to that - at Airtours we had about 10 people per resort doing this all day every day.

PS I worked at Airtours for 2 years so know how they operate with regards pricing, capacity etc. :)

Go on, get it booked :)

Going to Fuerteventura in March for 7 days. Flights with Air2000 £159 and staying at lobosbahiaclub.com for £27 per day.

Going to Fuert on the 8th May.

Got a 1 bed appartment in Corralejo, not used by the mass package companies, with good facilities, a weeks car hire and flights and even a stocked up kitchen on arrival for 670 quid, so 335 each :D

Booked through Fuerta specialists:

Bargain :D

Thanks again guys, you've been very helpful ;)

After talking to a few places it works out cheaper to book during the week and not the weekend  and to put kids down as adults as theres no additional premium ...very handy to know :D

Dream Weaver, does this sound right?

Thanks again....

Nath

PS: Still haven't booked anywhere yet as I'm going to test the first of the above in a short while. Though will have to very shortly as the wife's on my case after seeing this :D

Having lived in the canaries for a year, and currently out there working.....

The reason stuff can get expensive out here in Easter can be due to the number of wierd festivals that go on, Called Semana Santa or summit.

Really cheap filghts can be got from JMC for as little as 100quid. There are more islands in the canaries than just G/c and Fuerte.

Some things to note. G/C has a really large gay community, not making any judgements, just a piece of info :D . If you get out of the south, (where the spanish lock up all the rowdy brits) then tenerife is very cool. La Laguna in the north has a massive University, so lots of bars and cheap accommodation etc).

If you want something quieter than may I recommend La Palma (the furthest west one), cause I lived there :) There is the best scenery in the canaries, Massive extinct volcano (Caldera), now a spectacular National Park with 1000m cliffs surrounding, not so extinct volcanoes (last eruption 1971), an observatory, not many Brits (appart from the ones that work at the Observatory) cheap as you like for anything.

I've always found that the way to get a good deal on a holiday is to circumnavigate Holiday companies all together. Stay anywhere you like, do anything you want, no hidden costs. Sure it might be a bit more taxing on the organisation front, but that should be part of the experience :)

Good luck, you'll probably have a good time if you went to Bognor on holiday anyway...
