Induction Kit or Replacement Panel Filter

Hi, I know there has been a lot of debate in the forums about Induction Kits or Replacment Panel Filters but I would like your opinion on which you think I should fit to my 06 WRX 2.5. In the past I have fitted K&N 57i kits to various cars with good results so I am quite tempted by the Typhoon system if it gives an extra 15bhp.

If any of you have fitted this system or a similar induction kit I would be interested to know your opinions or should I go down the replacement panel filter route? :wonder:

if i was you i would stick with the panel filter, as you will gain a nice noise and thats about it with an induction kit , the induction kit would have to be boxed in but then it still suffers from heat soak uless you put it in the wing ;) if you do still buy one get a stainless steal filter as the oil from foam and cotton filters like hks/ k&n will destroy your maf sensor hope this helps :thumb:

Another vote for an uprated Panel Filter, the standard airbox system is good for well over 400bhp (the type 25 uses the standard induction system) and won't cause any issue's with the car which an Induction Kit may.

I've got a k&n panel filter for a my06 wrx sat in my garage, done a few hundred miles on the car a few weeks, cost £45+p&p £20 and its yours:)

Most only use induction kits when forced to by fitting a front mount so a panel filter is the easy option. loads and loads of info on here about both if you use the "search":thumb:

Bloody hell there has been some threads posted about this issue! :wonder: I think having read a lot of the threads and I think I will go down the replacement panel filter route, as I see it the standard induction system is good enough with a better quality filter.

Just picked up a replacement k&n panel filter from Scooby401, had a good chat about modding imprezas, what a top bloke scooby401 is gave me plenty of good tips and pointers. Will fit the filter tomorrow before taking my car to Prospeed in Cardiff to have an exhaust system designed perhaps using a Prodrive silencer and then fitted next week.

Drop me a PM when you go. I work around the corner from Prospeed, so if you want a free cuppa, I'm your man.

I am hoping to have the exhaust system fitted on the 10th meaning that I can then take up to the meet at junction 30, hope to see you all there
