Anyone advise on breakdown cover for self employed vehicles??
 

My F_I_L is self employed, and drives a transit - over the past few months we have been called upon to assist when he has broken down or done something silly like locking his keys in the van!!

I've suggested to my other half that we get his dad some sort of breakdown cover as his chrimbo present, but unless it is just me being a numpty, I cannot seem to get a quote from AA or RAC etc for anything other than a car..

can anyone in a similar employment situation tell me who they get their cover from and how much it costs roughly??

I just use RAC its cover is the same for business or personal as your only driving to work ??

I've got 'personal' cover from the RAC.......... i'm covered in any vehicle, even somone elses.....

I think the AA is personal too - any vehicle, even if you're a passenger?

oh, ok.. I wonder if it makes a difference if the vehicle is full of tools re breakdown recover etc.. I'll give the AA a buzz tomorrow. Thanks, guys:)

Just get him AA cover, I have been recovered in my Transit (a LWB high top with a Glass frail and full roof rack fitted and fully sign written) twice now, and I even made a cliam against the AA for their patrol man knackering my starter motor on one occasion, as he kept turning the engine over and over and eventually buggered the starter.

AA does cover you personally, not the vehicle. So if you are covered yourself and you are travelling in someone elses car, they recover the whole car and it's occupants because you are a member.
