Are there any high streetbanks worth investing in?

Buying shares that is. I heard earlier that RBS has lost 90% of its share price over the last year or so. Give it 5 years to build up the reserves again and over the long term banking is a good business, so is there any reason not to invest for the long term.

RBS shares are something i have been considering. Last time i checked they were under 60p. Given time they could make a recovery to previous values so money could be made :)

If there is any chance of getting nationalised then they would be worth little.

I'm a bit out of my depth here. I just read a thread on a money forum and 6 months ago people were saying buy HBOS at £2, you couldn't go wrong. Now they are worth 50p ish.
