How much is a 2003 sti worth?

Been offered what seems to be a cheap 2003 sti with 38000 on the clock.

Really interested to see what people would pay for it as I don't think I could afford to keep it, it would mean me buying it at a cheap price to sell on as the person needs rid as he's leaving the country.

Cheers

Tim

Cheap would be anything under £8k

tath 20 November 2008 11:10 PM

if that...

Not seen too many under that price with that mileage, but given the way things are going, it'll not be long before they're common place

chrisdicko 20 November 2008 11:26 PM

I paid bang on £8k for mine with 40k on the clock. FSH etc, mint condition. And modded........which a lot of people may not like, but its saved me a lot so I dont have to do it, and its been RR at 350bhp. So IMO I think I get a nice bargain! lol.

I wouldn't buy one at 8k just because I thought it was cheap though. Sure, if it's a nice car and it's what you're looking for, but it isn't steal of the century, 'specially if you can't really afford it but are looking to make a buck :)

Wouldn't pay more than £5k ...

Spotted a 53 plate STi for £7995 at Motor Depot in S****horpe. Looked fairly mint/original. I have a modded 03/52 plate Blob STi, depressing how little its worth but doesn't really matter as I intend to keep mine for track use until it dies.

D1CCY 21 November 2008 09:17 AM

Seem to run foul of the swearword editor (completely unintended), place is between Hull and Gainsborough.

BIG FUD 21 November 2008 09:20 AM

There is a 03 52 reg on here £5995 been for sale a month no 1 wants it at that price so that tells me how bad it has really got ......

timmy2take 21 November 2008 09:26 AM

The price he's offered was too little he thinks and he's upped it to £7400. He may well sell, but it seems like it'll be the same price as all the others.

Floodboy 21 November 2008 10:40 AM

I just brought a 02 STi for £5500, mint condition. Personally I think its undervalued but hey thats just me and I considering it a bargain. I was offered loads of WRXs for £6k +, so im as happy as a pig in ..........

Timwinner 21 November 2008 04:13 PM

I would say somewhere around the 7.5k mark for a private sale. To be honest the way prices are falling you could keep hold of it for 8 months, when things recover a bit you could get your money back.
Free motoring for a few months!!!

That would be crazy cheap. Petrol is nose diving and the pre-budget will most likely u-turn the tax so expect prices to stabalise if not rise a little; buy now i would say. :)

sean kidd 22 November 2008 05:47 PM

02 plate sti 27,000 miles,uk car advertised locally to me, £6400.

That's what this country needs! A little more blind faith and optimism!

spartagates 22 November 2008 06:25 PM

I'll see you next monday evening after the pre-budget statement. ;) It would be political suicide to impose any sort of tax in the present financial climate. Check all the news. It's not blind optimism. They will not raise the VED tax and oil is below $50 a barrel. We are likely to go into deflation. Running cars like imprezas is becoming cheaper by the day. Fact.

sean kidd 22 November 2008 07:27 PM

Well they are certainly cheaper to buy:lol1:
I cant see any upturn in things till at least summer .However optimists are happier and have more fun

WTF?!?!

Parkers say:

RyanSTI 22 November 2008 11:05 PM

parkers isnt cool, it doesnt take into account the real world. makes u feel nice though.

trade price on a 2003 blob sti, 4k. so even though i bought mine for 6k 3 months ago at trade, ive still lost money wtf! anyway i priced mine to sell, but didnt really get any hits and came to the conclusion it was too cheap, so decided to keep it as a weekend bit of fun.

timmy2take 22 November 2008 11:38 PM

I've looked on ebay at the completed listings for a 2003 sti and a cat d fetched £6k and a straight car with average miles fetched £7k

drb5 23 November 2008 07:36 AM

What you guys don't seem to understand is a few months ago, hawkeye STi's were worth 13k. Take into account THE MARKET and not the cost of fuel, you will see that the same cars should be priced cheaper as no-one can sell them.

If you were to go view a hawkeye STi with 11k cash, i reckon you'd get more than one guy clambering to tear your arm off.

A 2003 STi??? That's a GOOD few years older now and although they are a new model, the classic will always take precedence over the ____eye. They have a cult status.

God, if you were to walk into a dealer right now, i'd bet most would take 24k for a brand new STi......a car you should expect to lose 5k at that price, straight away.

Mikkel 23 November 2008 09:17 AM

Very true but a lot of these rock bottom prices quoted are for high mileage or not mint cars though. £11k for a hawkeye STi is very cheap and I think you will find the majority of the good ones will still fetch a minimum of £12k-£13k even cash price.

Prices are crazy mind you and I can't see the value of any car ever rising, not until it becomes a real classic that is and I think only the 22B will fall into that category as far as the Impreza is concerned. Prices will likely bottom out and stay there if things get better by next year.

RyanSTI 23 November 2008 09:26 AM

prices have pretty much bottomed with subarus at the moment, the problem is all the models are so bunch together theres no division, so its a little bit hard to judge what to sell somthing at.

Terminator X 23 November 2008 12:58 PM

I was joking with the £5k valuation ...

The guys on here (always the same ones) running down the prices of our cars should keep clear of "general" & go to one of the other sections of SN where their comments may be more appreciated, IMHO of course.

One chap actually stated that he expects to get a 54 plate STi for £5k in Jan 2009 :cuckoo: I even stated that I'd buy it for him at that price.

TX.

Edit - see that drb5 owns a mini cooper!
