Pug 205 - indicator/wiring help
 

Whilst I try to remember my Peugeot Central forum login :rolleyes: I know there are some 205-knowledgeable folks on here so here goes!

As some of you know, I've had a fair bit of my 205 Diesel Turbo engine bay parts out & now back in again (thanks to Rob for sorting the timing!).

Checking the lights last night I now have a new problem - the NSF indicator and NS repeater have packed up. :( Bulbs are ok because I swapped them over to the OS and they work fine. NS rear works ok too so I think the fuse is ok.

Anyone know if there are any multiplugs under the battery/washer bottle/radiator I could have dislodged?

Only electrical parts not back on are the front lower driving lamps, but I'm taking a wild guess they're not on the indicator circuit! :)

Any pointers appreciated as usual.

I'm beginning to think the car wants to stay SORN'd! :brickwall

there are brown multiplugs situated close to the front lights/inner wing. Common cuplrit needing some contact cleaner/wd40

They have an earth wire attached near the NS strut as well IIRC, make sure that is wired in, also make sure the connections are all clean as Sean says.

When mine did this, it was just an oxidised connection.

Took the connectors apart - nice white corrosion so I sanded that off; took the earthing bolt off (rusty!) and cleaned it. Everything now coated in WD40 or coppaslip, put it all back together - no change! Argh!

At this rate I'll be using small flags to indicate with!

Anyone know anything else I should check?

can u get a tester on the multi plug and check for a voltage?
If thats fine do a continuity check to the lamholders

Steve, don't worry mate as you are not the only one suffering electrical problems! Rob has been over here to assist as well! We've got a day of fault finding ahead of us! Oh what joy......

I don't understand - I gave it a thump with a hammer so everything should work! :D

As above, you need to get a tester on it. I've just remembered when I did mine, it was the wire to the side repeater that was buggered, and had rusted half way down inside the actual insulation due to a small nick, so even though I cleaned the connectors up and had a good bulb they wouldn't work at first.

I then re-wired them and they were fine.

Just use a multimeter and trace back to where the problem is.

test for a good earth too. the wiring diagrams will help determine which wires the earths are, to put temp ones in from the battery - to help

It was the earthing block on the front panel between the headlight and radiator.

I had hoped that would sort the duff rev counter too, but no such luck - ah well. :)

Good news. :)

Rev counter is a light blue wire, wire number 112 and should go down to the coil somewhere, inner wing on diesels IIRC. Test the wiring again and you will find the issue, unless of course your gauge is buggered.
