Details:
Car value £2200
Insurance Excess £150
Damage Cost £400 (ish - bloody badger!)

is it worth claiming of my insurance (have 6 yeard NCD and protected) or will this push my premium up next year? Also will it effect future quotes as you have to tell them about claims that you have made in the past?

cosmetically the damage is not too bad (split bumper) but I was planning to sell the car in the next month!

Is the £400 for new parts and labour?

I'd be inclined to not claim..

You can source parts secondhand and take them to a garage to be fitted and sprayed etc...

You will be declaring the claim for 3 to 5years although may not effect quote much as it is only a small claim but if you have a mishap later in the year it will be the icing on the cake for the insurance company...

Going to cost you the excess price anyway so may as well pay the little extra and get secondhand parts etc...

In my opinion I would not claim.

you could probably fix it yourself for not much more than 150 quid if it is only the bumper. Have you got a plastic welder to tak a look at it?

would certainly find out how much a 2nd hand bumper costs to obtain plus to fit at competent garage.

I'm not claiming on the insurance for my rock incident and that's going to cost at least 500 quid, if not 950 (for totally new bits). just can't afford the premium hike i'd get hence not claiming.
