I know where there is an e type jag thats so clean, its got a tarpaulin over it and a wooden beam ( as in house beam) an inch above it. he said he would get around to moving it one day, i wiped the dust off with my finger and it was very very shiny underneath, I could have cried! :(

How odd..........you hear nothing about these cars for ages, then two come along at once: my son came home from the classic car show yesterday full of the story of a mint RS200 with only 1500 miles on the clock that he'd seen.

It's owner was very surprised that a 22 year old bloke even new WHAT it was, let alone so much about it.

My father in law sold his Bugatti last year, that hadnt turned a wheel in twenty years, I think people just lose interest or get focussed elsewhere and it just becomes another item, if you own one it isnt such a big deal as you have had your fun and are aware it can really only go up in value as long as it is stored dry. Not everyone is as car minded, my father in law was but I think as you get older you lose interest, that said my uncles are around 60 and still are well into cars.

If every one was used every weekend there wouldnt be any low mileage barn finds !

Makes you wonder how many cars are getting dusty up and down the country and it is slightly annoying how much other people could enjoy them if they owned them rather than those who cant be arsed, look at some of the Arabs with hundreds of cars.

That's a good point Jacko. I know one guy who has several 1920s/1930s MGs that he races.

Someone once said to him "Why do you race those - they're worth a fortune?" and his reply was "that's what they're built for, and anyway this one only cost me 30 Bob"

Car was valued at 6 figures at the time, but to him it was just one old car he'd bought as a rough runner, fixed it up in his garage, and used to go out & have fun racing in.

Great car, what a shame it's gathering all that dust though. So wish I could have a drive in a real one :(
