Woo Hoo, Credit Crunch Bargains

After seeing an add on the telly I ran into Currys today to get a new telly..

Sony Bravia 32" LCD widescreen with built in freeview plus Sony DVD surround sound setup. RRP £750, Currys price at the moment £400.:luxhello:

Can't believe how much difference it makes from my 13 year old 21" panasonic Nicam CRT telly.

Iwan. 16 November 2008 10:34 PM

Good deal, unless you need any aftercare.

cossie-nutter 16 November 2008 10:38 PM

I see the advert on tv about a Sony tv with surround dvd player etc...

Very good deal and can't go wrong with Sony! I have a 40" Sony £1100 early this year and love it and even better with the ps3!

Well done buddy! :thumb:

Yep good on you seems a good price, the only thing I will say is that does anyone actually pay a RRP price in the first place ?? - nope !!!

True, but the samsung equivalent is still £600 and when shopping around the nearest I came to matching that price was about £480.

Dream Weaver 17 November 2008 12:30 PM

I've just bought a Sony KDL32V4000 for the kitchen, not sure if its the same model that Curry's are doing.

I paid £399 inc delivery from John Lewis which doesn't get me surround sound, but it does give me the 5 year warranty - don't need surround in teh kitchen either I guess!!!

I should have waited for the Jan sales, but the kitchen refurb has to be finished before Xmas so I have no choice!! Just hope it's a good TV now, spent a few weeks chasing the walls out and getting everything hidden!!

Same telly, but only the one year warranty, but included the Sony DZ260 surround sound system:thumb:

Yeah it''s a good TV and most places sell it for about £360 so with the other bits its a good deal.

There is one sticking point. The deal is in store only and no stores have any stock. So yeas it's a bargain but you can't actually have one ...

If you search online, yes they all appear out of stock. When I went into the Watford store ready to argue the toss and see what I could get in lieu, there was a stack of the piled up on the shop floor.

lozgti 17 November 2008 03:24 PM

Paid about£1500 for our 32" Sony monstrosity (pre plasma/LCD stuff) about 5 years ago

The thing was state of the art then.Looks massive now and takes half the lounge up.Amazing how things have changed

grovesy 17 November 2008 04:09 PM

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

5 years ago pre Plasma ???? r u sure

lozgti 17 November 2008 04:13 PM

Might be older but perhaps I should have said pre 'affordable' plasma.

Remember stories of people paying anything from £4k to £10k for plasmas:eek:

Luan Pra bang 17 November 2008 04:38 PM

My dad paid 7k for one may years ago. The screen then broke after amost 5 years and we got a new one from John Lewis. They are without a doubt the only place to buy expensive tv's from.

Big TVs are up their with aggressive breeds of dog and naff leather sofas for chavness.

I do not know a single genuinely well off/classy/with taste person with a TV bigger than 25".

A room dominated by a TV is a ruined room.

We only got a flat screen LCD TV (21" I think) because it takes up less space and is even more "subtle" than a big CRT one.
Mind you, we haven't watched a DVD (or even used our player) for 3 years...

Now I await a hail of abuse.

Shark Man 17 November 2008 05:01 PM

25" ? Christ, I'd need binoculars to watch that from the end of my living room LOL :D

I'd agree it would be overkill in a small room - I did that with the bedroom: Went into Empire direct to buy a 24", and walked out with a 27" at the same price and spec: Big mistake - it didn't look that big in the shop! :o

Depends on the size of the house you live in.
The 37" TV and 2 thuggish dogs take up very little room in my house.

Each to their own, but at £60 a month I like to see the picture from Sky VERY well and enjoy every second of it.

Dedicated TV room?! Oh my god.
A 21" TV is fine on our 35x15ft foot living room thanks (with my glasses on...!)

Love good hifi - just not interested in TV. Enjoy real life outdoors more.

And if you enjoy the "real outdoors" more what you doing on here Trolling :D

Matteeboy 17 November 2008 05:39 PM

Nope - I just think that big TVs are for pikeys. Just like big Lexus' and Shoguns and many other expensive "status" symbols.

Often see a massive TV cardboard box placed very obviously outside the most pikey houses in town...:lol1: :lol1: LOOK, I HAVE A BIGGER TELLY THAN YOU!! :lol1: :lol1:

Save your money and get something useful.

ScoobyWon't 17 November 2008 05:50 PM

I've only got a 19" one.

But that's enough about my penis. However, I only have a 32" Panasonic Viera LCD telebox :p

As you often get people on the internet saying "LOOK AT ME I'VE GOT A 35ft x 15ft LIVING ROOM"

Bragging is not a good trait my friend, neither is trolling!

P.S. My dad's harder than your dad  :D

After reading a comment like that, I have lost a lot of respect that I once had for you.

I am by no means a chav, pikey or any other form of theiving b******, but have a 32" LCD in my 5yard x 4yard sitting room. Why? Because I got a good deal on the T.V. when I bought it in the sale last christmas. I got the T.V. surround sound, dvd player and glass stand for under £700. Thats certainly not boasting how much money I have or how big a T.V. I can fit into my room. I take exceptional offence to comments like the above. I bought the bloody thing to enjoy watching films and sports more. Obviously if I was as rich as 'yow' and had a living room the same size as a tennis court i would have a private box at my football teams stadium, or my own directors chair on the set of the film I'm watching. But I'm not as rich as 'yow' so I'll continue to watch my 'oversized pikey chav T.V.' while you scrap the cow sh*t off your wellies from your beautiful trek into the great outdoors:D

Idiot.
