MY98 onward classic headlights (crystal) better than non crystal?

Hi all,

After driving my MY97 Impreza Turbo home, I found I love just about everything the car apart from the lights! after reading on here, it would appear it's a fairly common complaint!

I've noticed that a lot of the MY98 and all MY99 and onward cars have clear lenses with a different looking reflector assembly inside (I can only think to refer to these as the 'crystal' type), the question is are these later type headlights better than the earlier types? I assume the lenses are polycarbonate as opposed to glass too?

I'd also hazard a guess to them being a straight swap for the revised from cars with squared off light lenses.

Can anyone confirm if the light spread from the clear lense variety is better?
If so, I'll be searching for a set, and also some nice white (6000K) HID bulbs :)

Sorry bud, it's just as bad.:(

By all means get some HID's, but if you want the light to go where it's supposed to a set of Morettes is the best option...........at £330 NOT really cheap!

Ahhh no wai!

Hehe, cheers for the reply, tanyatriangles. At least I know not to waste my money converting the lights on my car, best spent on a decent set of HIDs to improve them a little, but as you say, it's more to do with direction than brightness.

The Morettes would be excellent, but they're definitely costly at £330!

Cheers again :)
