I'm getting a scoobysport back box fitted tomorrow (23rd Jan) which seems to be a standard upgrade to give a throatier deeper sound. My mate reckons they sound like TVRs with them on. Also getting barrier deadlock fitted which people seem to recommend as a good security addition.

Haven't done much else on the performance front yet, just started installing own ICE setup.

I'm in Notts so if you wanted to hear the difference then drop me an email off list and we can sort something out.

How about a leather interior or if you're feeling flush, the Prodrive interior (Recaro's front, re-trimmed door inserts & rear seats, gear knob, Prodrive carpet mats)

I think the leather retrim is about £1200, and retains the standard seats, the interior package is over £2k if I remember correctly!

If you want it a bit faster, and want to retain the warranty, then the Prodrive Performace Pack (PPP) may be worth a look. This is in the region of £2000 and includes an uprated ECU, new intercooler hoses, and new backbox & centre section. The centre cat is removed, but the main one is retained, so should be quiter than some of the full de-cat systems that I and others run!

No harm with wheels then!!! If you go for 17" wheels, make sure they are only 7" wide and have the correct offset (55 to 48ET) or else you'll get rubbing on the rear arches. Tyres are important, only get 205/45R17 (Prodrive recommendation) or 215/40R17 (Similar size, but with a wider range of tyres)

Maybe a centre pod with 3 gauges, rather than the lidded compartment on top of the dash.

I am due to pick up me new (Old shape) Impreza on March 1st, which is nice!.

Now what i would like to know is what "Discreet" Mods should I consider. I have owned Various "Quick" cars over the years, BMW M3, Integra type R and even a quick stint in a Cerbera but none of them lent themselves to being tarted up particularly well.

I'm not too fussed about a ballistic 0-60 time nor massive increases in power which result in me blowing me engine every 1000 miles, just something which makes the car better than bog standard. (is there such a thing?)

I've gotta use the car for work which involves pulling up in company car parks next to Jags, BM's, Lexuses, Discoverys'(General MD Type kit)so Big fins and Bugger ya ears up exhausts ain't the order of the day.

I want the car to reflect a successful image as opposed to the boy racer school image. You all know what I mean.

Any suggestions greatfully recieved.

the problem is gridlock mikey, everyone ELSE will think u are a boy racer , no matter what u do. every tit with their crappy orions will try to race u. every jealous **** in an escort will be loathe to move over for u, every 316i ( debadged of course) will take great pleasure every day telling his mates how he "cut up a scooby the other night...yeah it was pissing down...but i still did it no sweat" ( all the while the smell of bull**** permeates the room.
the moral of this, and i say this as a relatively new scooby owner, and an owner of other, slightly less obvious quick cars ( eg s4) is.....
sod what anyone thinks! make your car as quick as possible...that way no-one will beat you.
make it loud! birds love it, blokes love it, you'll love it, maybe your posh colleagues will too!
oh, dont bother with prodrive interior, its overpriced. try a local retrimmer, that way you'll get colour co-ordinated leather interior just the way u want it.

If you don't want a full rally sounding exhaust there are alternatives for a deeper fuller sound.
Scoobysport and Magnex are very popular.

The best way by far is to go to a trackday or Midlands meet and look and listen for yourself. If all you wanted was a pro image you'd have bought a BMW!! LOL http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Why not come along to the SIDC track day at Donnington on the 18th Feb its only half an hours drive from Nottingham. There's usually five or six of us from Notts who meet up, come along and be hooked.

Upgrade the brakes.

The standard ones are only just adequate for the car (read 'crap'.)

There are plenty of options available which will improve the pace of the car without being over the top.
Would work well alongside a 17" wheel upgrade.

I work in the city and have a stupidly expensive Scoob, and it's branded a 'Trev boy racer's car' by everyone here. The badge means nothing to that type, else they'd buy one. Do what you want to cause at the end of the day the only one who has to care about what it looks like is you.
Or cancel it and get another M3 if you need to look good in the company carpark.

how do u define unmolested?does yours still have the original 16" wheels? original backbox??
would you buy a molested car that had ppp, prodrive suspension upgrade, brakes, prodrive driving lamp conversion?prodrive rear spoiler?? the point is, if the mods are done right and by the right people, surely this enhances the car, and ultimately better resale prospects...just a thought.

Faced with a choice between a tuned-up racer and a standard UK car - for me, the UK STD would win hands down every time.

I consider that this is the stance of the second hand car buying public too - the state of tune and extras on a car show the type of owner who has gone before. Should it be totally standard then there is a better chance that it has been treated carefully and not raced round a track or indeed been raced around the roads!! its no guarantee but its accepted that a 'clean' car is the best one. The same goes for almost ALL body-kits ... its the one sure fire way to make your car worth diddly-squat!!
