Hello Guys Just a thought after last year their being not enough cars running on the strip and overall attendance would it not be a good idea to rename the event and call it scooby vs Evo shootout and then you would have the Evo heads down aswell. Double cars, double attendance, double traders, double the fun. I reckon its the way forward and would be a much more appealing event with a wider audience. By the afternoon last year i was watching no one on the track as many cars had problems and their just was not enough runners. anyway, my 2p worth.:wonder: Scott |
I wanted to do more laps on the circuit but due to the cones moving around it was stopped.
The attendance was a poor this year. I doubt I'll do another, as my car is no longer a road car, so not worth insuring for the road and tax etc. |
I hope it will be better than 2008, which I thought was very poor. Very poor turn out of traders especially considering it was a Scooby only event. Went a couple of years ago and it was much better mainly due to different make and models of cars performing. Once you've seen a handful of Scoobies doing there stuff, you've seen them all in my opinion. Will see how things pan out for the 2009 event before deciding wether to go or not.

I will be going, and entering. the more cars that enter the better.
Scoobies are cars to be driven hard, not just to be washed and polished. Its got to be the cheapest and safest event any one can enter. The event is called "scooby shootout 2009" It's us with the Subarus who make the event. We all think that they are 1 of the best value for money cars you can buy So lets make the show the best value for money shows you can buy. There is a class your car can be in, why not be in it? Thank you Bez |

IMO, there would be more entrants, IF it wasn't as expensive to enter.

TBH, cost is a big factor for us, and I'd imagine a fair few others too.
We were totting up cost, and by the time you factor in payment to compete, my entry fee, petrol, refreshments etc, it's easily £150 plus for what is ultimately a day out. It is alot of money for a day, and we don't even have that far to travel, compared to some. I think if it was less expensive, more people would be inclined to come. Whether to compete or just spectate. Imo. |
Mickywrx,
Please appreciate nothing is ever that simple. :) For the previous format of timing equipment used, we would of never been able to justify more competitors as the number of laps available based on time available for the handling circuit would of meant less than 5 laps per car, had we had more competitors. Last year was the first year we could run a new timing system to allow up to 2 cars on the handling circuit at any one time. This in theory allowed more runs. From a personal perspective, I think the event competitors cost was reasonable considering each car had the potential of unlimited drag runs (work out how much something like Santa Pod charges and how many runs you would normally be able to have during a "competition" day). Add to this a second descipline in the shape of a formally timed handling circuit. This is not to say the event cannot be improved, but please appreciate the running costs are high and the gate or competitor entry is never a given. I am not sure why some people are quoting £20 for a spectator, as it was only £15 per spectator. In comparison, this was extremely good value in my book against other events throughout the year. |

I honestly thought it was £20 for Lisa to get in. Even so, £75 entry + £15 for my passenger + petrol = a bloody expensive day. Thats not including refreshments. It was cheaper to compete last year. Still an expensive day out. If the price to compete was lower, then I think more people would enter. BUT I think people are "put off" from entering because they maybe feel they'll be racing AndyF all day. Which they wont. I beat some much higher powered cars across the line at this years event, so maybe this should be promoted more? Maybe this sort of thing needs highlighted? It will show people that they don't need massive power to win some races. Just a thought. |
Micky for my ten pence worth the day is a cheap one when you take into consideration that it normally costs me £150+ for the trackdays that I do and thats without food and petrol added on and as Shaun has said there are 2 disiplines to be had on the day so you get the best of both worlds. My own view is that if its running in 09 I will be there but without a slipping clutch and hoping that its not windy as for the cones moving might be an Idea to put more sand in the bottom of them or Hilti gun them to the concrete :)
|
As I have said. I think it is worth every penny.
I do track days and hoping to do time attack next year. scooby live is a cheap comp to enter. Please do not think I'v got a fast car. 300 BHP compaired to some thats low. But there is a class that I can run in. Roll on 2009 Bez |

Never done a track day so don't know the cost involved. Doubt I'll ever do one as there's not much chance of me passing noise limits, from what I've read. Sort my brakes out and see If I can beat my handling placing from 2007, aiming for 3rd last not 2nd last. :lol1: :lol1: :lol1: :D |
[QUOTE=IRC450STI;8333292]Well said  £75 is alot of money for entry fee & £20 for spectators its a bit steep TBO and i bet it will be another 5 or 10 quid more next year if they have another event. :wonder: i thought they lost court case over noise and that there wont be another at elvington :wonder:
So is there or isnt there :wonder: here here i unfortunatly have no others to compare to but i though £20 to watch a few cars and see 1 x jewellery stand 2 x scrap/spares dealer and 15 x rip off burger van chargeing £2 for a few chips i would rather save my money as it was dissapointing to say the least i had more fun driving there and back which was a shame as there were some great cars around. sorry but thats what i thought and to charge £20 for that i personally wont be going again :nono: |
war1974,
As I have already said, I think there is confusion over the spectator fee. It was £15 per spectator. :) With regards to the catering facilities, their prices (which are set by themselves and nothing to do with the organisers) were comparable with any other event of this magnitude that I have attended. |
Aye Shaun, I was wrong on the spectator price, as I already stated.
Food prices are a joke, but nothing can be done about that. I think it should be mandatory for the Subaru owning webteam to enter, if there is any left, other than Puff now. Mod gets on your tit's, kick his/her candy ass on the 1/4 mile :D IF they won't enter, then demote them to pleb status. :lol1: IF they won't attend, ban em for life. :thumb: |
Micky,
My previous post was to the previous poster mate, who also quoted the spectator price...... not drumming in to you twice. :) :D I should be near 600bhp for 2009, so I would beat you in reverse. I may even try that to give you a sporting chance. :D |
I know Shaun.
I was just trying to confirm, that it was me, that got the spectator fee wrong. ;) 600 bhp? Nice. Got a driver that can use it? ;) :lol1: Should rename this the 2009 SSO banter thread. |
roflol - you tart! :D
|
They were charging £20 on gate and £15 for advance bookings :wonder: I think, anyway back to original question, is there going to be a shootout in 2009 and where will it be :wonder:
|
IRC450STI,
For the last time (I hope) :D it was £15 on the gate as we never took advance bookings last year! ;) :D As regards to the other question, Chris has already commented that details will be released in good time. :) Hold on to your horses my young man. :D :D |
:norty: so when is it ;)

can you have 2 drivers and also what insurance is required i only ask because of the amount of people there as i know trackday cover only insures the car and nothing else if im correct.
anyway do we have a date yet?:norty: danny:thumb: |
went to 2008 as a spectator and had a good day out 2009 i will be putting the scooby to the test as for priceing i didnt think it was that bad when you look at my other form of motor sport which is winch challenge events they cost me a minimum of £500 each time
