hmmm. could be very tempted by this. Does anyone have a simple fitting guide and some pictures of it fitted to a bugeye and also do you need a ecu reflash after fitting? (Already gat an AF remap)

Thanks!
S!

TSL Motorsport 05 November 2008 02:53 PM

Ideally you would need an ecu reflash.

Here is a link to the fitting instructions:

Hey Mikey,
The free postage doesn't carry overseas. However i'll post this item anywhere in the world for £5 (and we'll pay the rest!)

Factory boost control management relies solely on a flimsy, inefficient actuator. When boost levels are increased over stock, by the use of aftermarket ECU’s, these factory actuators fail to properly meter boost. The resulting spikes, dips and erratic response can not only damage your engine but certainly spoil the performance gains. Enter the PERRIN EBCS!
Constructed from billet aluminum and fiberglass reinforced composites the EBCS, is a true solenoid. It is rated to hold boost pressures in excess of 100 psi and thus far more than any gasoline turbocharged engine will ever see. This product is especially helpful for tuners that have otherwise not been able to utilize boost functions found in many aftermarket reflashes and ECU’s. Avoids the cost and additional tuning of standalone electronic boost controllers.

forgive me for being stoopid but i think i have read somewhere that some of the later models have these fitted as standard?? is this true???. i have a 2002 STI bugeye with a few simple mods, de cat, k+n induction. and planning taking it for an ECUTEK remap. WOULD the 3 port boost solenoid benefit me??????? any help would be apprieciated.thanks

dynamix 18 November 2008 06:52 AM

The bcs on the newage is a 2 port. This would be an upgrade but needs mapping for as it would overboost if straight swapped.

Tiss 18 November 2008 04:40 PM

If I was going to fit one of these to my Type R with a power FC ecu and AVCR would it work or does the AVCR come with one???

Regards

chris

Hey,
The WR1 has one as standard.
It would benefit you greatly as a 3 port makes it easier to get a nice boost curve when mapping.

so does this mean that i should wait on fitting till i was at the remap place???
or can i fit it and drive until i get a remap with out problems???

AndyP's_P1 18 November 2008 11:27 PM

Bought one lately but when i put it on the car to test it, it just clicks like crazy! Is this normal? or just due to the fact i need to have it remapped?

Hey,
Fitting one without a remap can't guarantee a stable boost level. It would be best to fit when you go to get your car remapped.

Hey Andy,
You would need a remap so you get a stable boost level.

Hey Andy,
They do click when they operate. Just check it's been installed correctly. If it has, then it's perfectly normal and I wouldn't worry about it.

Hey,
Yes you would definately benefit with the Perrin 3 Port than a standard one with a Simtec Ecu.
