How to maximise bhp potential at remap

Ok folks I am calling on your experience here.

As we all know remaps are not cheap.

I have a 03 bug eye wrx sitting at 286 bhp currently and is due for a remap in the next couple of months.

It has f3" full decat exhaust except up pipe.
(And to go on near map)
It has fmic, sti intercooler, td0516g, y pipe, nkg spark plugs, decat turbo up pipe, 500cc injectors.

Is there anything i need/can do to get a few extra ponies without spending thousands?:notworthy :notworthy

Any ideas would be appreciated:luxhello: :luxhello:
Cheers

It won't give any more ponies, but I'd suggest you get an uprated fuel pump, if you haven't already.

Oh, and a panel filter may be worth a few quid for 1 or 2 more bhp.

oh got one!! lol

Anything else I can do?

It all sounds ok 550cc pinks from an sti, fuel pump, sti intercooler. You don't need a fmic (front mount intercooler) the sti one is fine upto 400bhp. Uppipe decat is a must. Turbo will be good for 330bhp. Might need a new gearbox and clutch but I make do with the standard one while it lasts. :lol1:

thank you sir:)
So do you think ill feel the jump from 386 to 330.will it be a big difference?
Im hoping so!!!

3port boost solenoid the only addition that springs to mind.. the standard 2port may work fine but for the sake of the small cost of a 3port it is worth doing.

sorry what is a 3port boost solenoid compared to my two- im clued up with the card but aint got a clue what it is. Thanks for the advice!!

Ported and wrapped headers would be a good addition, few more ponies, but more importantly, offset the increase in spool threshold and lag associated with the bigger turbo. Do you still have the OEM up-pipe, you may as well get this sorted while you're getting the headers done by someone like Harvey.

The 3 port allows for better boost control at higher boost levels, the perrin one from TSL is only £90 and well worth it if you're going to start pushing the turbo a bit more.

I,m having the Spec C mapped in the next week or two, would one be recommended for my car??

It wouldn't hurt, but for the level of tune you're after it isn't strictly needed. I ran 350bhp and a 12.5 1/4 mile on the standard 2 port.

290 AND READY 31 October 2008 09:11 PM

Ok , im going to run about 330 bhp in my scoob.
Is it really worth me spending money on 3 port as money is kind of tight as you can imagine near crimbo.
But if it makes a difference to the bhp i get then I shall buy.
Also does it make a difference wrapping a turbo up pipe?
Anything else you guys can think of to increase bhp a little bit more.
Just wanting to make I get my moneys worth at re map!! lol
Advice has been great so far.

I used a 2nd hand 3 port boost solenoid and it cost me £25 from the for sale section. They are fitted to JDM cars but I don't know wether one would fit yours.
