how much will Children in Need raise this year?
As title.
Fed up of Wogan going on about it, adverts on radio 2 promoting it and all of BBC. In this years credit crunch will they get people giving like previous years? How much will you give if your heating bills have gone up and mortgages are needing paying and you can't sell your house cus you've lost 30% of its value from last year! would be interesting to know what CiN actually raised each year for the last 10years (actual money in, not the total pledged) just to see if it goes up silly every year or whether its goes up and down depending on the financial climate of the country. they may struggle this year - though Wogan will still get his cheque.

Nothing frome me.

Never watch it
Never give any money to it Children in need? They can bl00dy stay in need. (Harry Enfield & Paul Whitehouse as Grumpy Old Men) |
Bugger orrrfff nnnnnnnnnnnnnrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :D
|
wogan doesnt get paid does he?
|
Oh yes he won't do it unless they pay him.
|
This year, Im paying a grand some of no attention to it, as per usual.
Charity starts at home |
If they don't get more than last year they will go into a personal recession! I don't object to what they are doing with the money raised though. I doubt very much that any of the entertainers get paid and certainly not Wogan.

It's a well known fact that Wogan won't do it unless they pay him.

Wogan is whe only one who gets paid! Terry Wogan Branded A "Fool" For Receiving Children In Need Fee - Celebrity News & Gossip, Movie Reviews, Competitions - Entertainmentwise

Asking for money to point of duress is not the way to gain my charity. Thankfully I have a remote control and a DVD player LOL.
|
I am surprised and disappointed that Wogan takes money for doing the job.
Les :( |
Sum

I know, at Eurovision he only demands Baileys :lol1:

Les :( He's asked to do a job. Why should he do it for free? Just because it's Children in need? So what. Want a presenter? Pay a presenter to present. |
Plenty of people making a fair bit of cash working for charities. Do you think that the boards of directors for all the big charities do it for free? Don't think so
It's still a business at the end of the day but their business is to raise as much money as they can to fund good causes whilst still getting a decent wage. |

Perhaps he took a leaf from your book? |
There are some extremely naive retorts in this thread.
|
What to you making a point that didn't make sense?
|
I have doubled the amount I give to Children in Need from the first year it was broadcast.
I donated precisely £0 in 1980 and will continue to double it every year. Echo comments from around SN and the wider community. Charity begins at home! |
so will we see £20m+ on the donation board by the end of the night?

I think people are going to be more cautious with charitable donations this year and I'd not be surprised to see them struggle to meet last years sum.
There are many things about Wogan that make me dislike him but his failure to donate one evening of his time to a cause that he has attached himself so firmly too is at the top of my list. I think targetting UK causes would be their best bet. |
