MY CAR WOULDN'T START 03WRX

After work today as I got to my car I pressed my key to unlock the doors the lights flashed really slow then the alarm went off,it wouldn't stop and the car wouldn't start,it had no power and the battery was flat,it was fine in the morning started first time as always,it's about 22miles to work on the m60 so it gets a good run every day,I had to jump it.

Anybody had this problem? Do I need a new battery?

Iv heard of quite alot of newage scoobs with original battery failing esp when the temps drop.

Prob is the battery that has went done many miles?

Id go with new battery mate get it tested first tho before shelling out charge it up and see if it does it again, im sure halfords or kwikfit will test for foc,

Is the average battery life not around 6 years anyway?

hope you get it sorted out mate Grieg

Its a common problem. If you have a mains charger/trickle charger top it up and then try driving all the time with the sidelights on which will help to keep it charged. If no joy replace with a Halfords Calcium battery code HCB 005, for around £80.

On a side note how do you find the yoko s306 tyres mate? Thanks Grieg

Yes, I had exactly the same thing happen to me, definately the battery, if you're still on the original one it's done well to last this long! :)

As above HCB 005 is the one you want from halfords, actually made by Yuasa.

These tyres came as a free upgrade as I had to wait around 4 weeks for my wheels to be delivered,I paid for falkens was told I was getting Avons and when they arrived they were fitted with yoko's.

Their alright in the wet and dry,had afew moments (this morning coming off the roundabout on to the slip road, but it was 6:30am and frosty) but generally sticks to the road

I've had TOYO,GOODYEAR but am very please with these.:)

yep i have a bug eye and battery died after 30,000 miles. 6 months after getting the car from subaru dealer. Winter time as well.

Is it the original battery ? If so 5 years ain't bad going at all!

£77 for a new battery is a joke! Blag a Halfords trade card and get 1 for £32 ;)

AndyMoody 30 October 2008 01:45 PM

How do you blag one then ?
