Nokia N96 Is it any good

Just ordered one of these, as I liked the look of it, (my usual method of choosing phones:D )

Am I going to be dissapointed? :wonder:

Played with a friends N96 and thought it was quite smart to be honest.

HTC is what Id go for though, very sexy phone

Quite tempted to whack it Ebay tbh, as it was free, and my phone still works fine.

I'm well happy with mine. Loads of gadgets to play with, but yet very simply to get the hang of.

Prefer the new Sony C905. Better camera and also has GPS plus decent battery life.

HTC touch HD on orange in Nov

Should be on all networks come Jan 09

N85 is a better bet.

Had the SE C905 since the weekend and it's great.

My new (3 week old) N96 is rubbish.

It is slow...when you go to the gallery to view a picture it hangs for about 30 seconds.

Also when you get a call the phone locks up and all you see is the persons number on the screen but no ring tone. Then everything locks up and none of the buttons including the on/off button work.

You have to take the back off and take out the battery and sim, and then put it back together.

Load of pooh.

Im hoping it will sort its self out, but its doing it every day so it may have to go back.

Total pain as Ive sold my other phone, so I will be without one whilst they mess around.

PS. My wife got one as an upgade at the same time as me, and hers does the same but less often.....steer clear of N96's

Yoza, have you tried updating the firmware from the Nokia website?

jaytc2003 29 October 2008 09:20 AM

Ive had the n96 for a few weeks, it is a bit buggy but it is due to be sorted with an updated firmware hopefully within the next few weeks.

Positive thing is my phone is unlocked as standard for all networks, as a lot of the n96's are as they were apparently "rushed" to market hence the currently buggy software.

Fwiw I changed my serial code, and then it allowed me to upgrade my software to version 11.101, and then I changed my serial back again

That's what i did with my numerous N95s last year too.
