Does everyone think that 3K is unreasonable considering the power and mods etc?? I know times are hard but i'd say it's a bargain considering you would still pay 2K for a standard normal WRX??? Last year when i was buying i would have snapped someones hand off at this price! And pretol prices are coming down! It only costs £42 to fill.

At the end of the day it's one of those 'If it dosn't sell i'm not bothered' situations but i don't want to keep it forever i want a newer car in the future.

Is EBAY the way to go? Sold my last 2 on there but at a loss and got bombarded with d***heads asking daft questions.I'm an ethusiast and want it to go to a good home :freak3:

The main issue on here is that the majority of members already own an Impreza. You are advertising to a market who already own the product you are selling.
Now is the worst possible time to be selling a car. As you say, petrol is returning to being sensible. Once the panic is over, you may find things easier the far side of Christmas. If you can hold on, I would. Your car does look tidy and worth the asking price. It's not your car, it's the market.

I know of a guy who just picked up a 2008 BMW 540 - list price £59k, and he paid £29k for it. Reason - 15 miles on the clock and 1 owner on the logbook - the dealer he bought it off

Mods = very little increase in money value of the car.
You could have someone spend 20k on a 3k car, is it worth 23k? ;) well no, its worth about 3k still, but just as an example at what you can get for a car 9 years younger and much better vfm

Bloody hell Tony that's cheap! I was looking at 05 plate STI's when i bought mine and they were 15K easy.In some ways though 3K and 10K are a world apart.Plus mine would easily stay up his arse ;)

I see what your saying mate but TBH there's a lot of difference in mine over a standard one, It's got 320 brake instead of 260 and it's now safe to run on 98 RON plus the intercooler/brakes.I'd say all that is worth a £1K premium over a standard car??? I'd say 1.5K is completly ludacris.At 2.5K i'd literally be sick seeing it drive away lol

the big difference between the classic and 2005 car is £250 per road tax!!!!!
classic = £200 per year(from march 09) 2005 sti = £455 per year(from march 09) all cars , not just subaru's in this tax bracket are being kicked in the teeth on resale value, !!! this could bare well for classic owners, only time will tell:wonder:
the amount of 4x4 and large petrol engine cars being traded in is unreal, but on the other side try and buy a small diesel car cheap!!!!! with £35 per year roadtax you can see why people are changing the cars and why prices are all over the place atm
the only bonus is , there will be some excellent, fast track cars at cheap money available in the coming year :thumb:

Ive seen this car. And before you say you prob know him, i dont. But it looks in very good codition and def worth the asking price.

The tax is nothing really, that just gets eaten up by the consumables on the classics due to shorter service intervals, you wont really notice much difference ;) (7.5k/6 month v 10k/1 year)

Have you got all the standard bits if so put back to standard and sell at £2000 ish and then sell all you mods as they will get you over a £1000 for them .Sadly people will not pay more for mods on a car so you might as well take them off and sell separately.

It would be a pain doing that as just getting the FMIC on took some fiddling etc.It would be daft to covert a car running 320 brake back to 260 by taking all the bits off and taking the Daughterboard off the ECU and it needing booster again.There's mods that people won't pay for but then there's mods that on an Import Scooby are essential.

Not much is selling at the moment....... here's a 400 BHP bugeye which I know has had £thousands thrown at it, is in the lower tax bracket and is having no interest at a shade under £6.5k :(

1) Image, now worthless, sad but true
2) Performance, now not so hot with new hatches pushing 200+ brake
3) Economy, although prices are coming down people are wary about commiting to a gas guzzler
4) reliability, outside the clique, the reputation is engine rebuild required every few 1000 miles
5) supply and demand, well, there is a ton of supply and no demand, not hard to work the maths
6) General downturn in the market as a whole
7) the bubble has burst, its no longer the performance car bargain of the decade
8) Shape, the classic was loved but ugly, the bug was awful, the blob better but the damage was done with the bug

Its sad but true, the only way to make Imprezas pay is to drive them till they die

Taxing mine today, it didn't sell with not even a question or an offer of a swap on Ebay. The last listing I had was offered £3k.

i had real trouble selling mine and i know a friend is selling his for the last 3 months with about 2 people coming to see it!

I agree regarding the comments about driving them into the ground, only sensible option now unless you *really* need the cash. I do about 350 commuting miles a week at the moment, but if I sold my scooby and bought a newer car that used less fuel, the fuel saving would be more than eaten up by the depreciation of a new car anyway (imo). Hold on to your cars if you can, lads.
