forged internals????

at what point do you need forged internals?
I have a 1993 scoob that i am about to rebuild and i will be aiming for 350-400 bhp. The car will be getting a fair bit of track use.
Is it nessercary to get forged internals for this level of power?

For regular track use I would defo get the engine forged, more for reliability than anything. As your current engine if not rebuilt, is getting on to 16 years old now and track use would probably push it over the edge.

If you're doing the build yourself, undoubtedly do go forged. If you're paying someone else, maybe not, unless you don't mind the cost.

so forged it is then

you also have the advantage of a closed deck block if you have a 93 wrx :-)
you can check for this by the hatchings on the block (by the alternator for example)

yeah i think i have got a cdb as it has the cross hatching

for that bhp and track use defo go forged. imprezas aren't the best standard on the track, get a proper oil cooler, oil temp and pressure gauge, a baffled sump or you will have problems on a track.

Same advice from me. And quite a few others too.

that is cheap!
Im slowly collecting parts so far i have a oil cooler, arc sump and cosworth windage tray thingy. I think the next thing to do will be to pull the motor apart to see what the cranks like.
Is it worth getting a 12mm oil pump for a track car with this sort of power or will a 10mm one be fine??

Cheers for the comments guys,

We are now stocking Manley rods as Eagle have let us down a few times and have trouble keeping up with orders , so we have both options now .

The manley package I do is £520 :)

And who does'nt like a manley package! :lol1:

Ahem, i mean, forged is the way forward and good for peace of mind!

10mm will be fine, get a modified oil pump. I got mine from Roger clark Motorsport, i believe API Does them too.
