Clouds of blue smoke....
On startup and while booting it.
It has been suggested to me that the turbo might be fooked. Does anyone agree with this diagnosis? Over the last few weeks it seems to have got progressively worse. When I start it up there is almost certainly going to be a huge cloud of smoke coming out of the exhaust. Sometimes it's worse than others and dosent seem to matter how long it has been stood. After the initial plume, it seems to stop and the usual condense smoke comes out, however, when I boot it, smoke comes out again. Also noticed it's worse at the bottom of hills when its been on run over for a few minutes. When I pull up it comes out again. I'm hoping this is the turbo and nothing more serious. The car is a MY 98 and has done 125K. Always been serviced on time and looked after properly. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Chris |
sounds like turbo or valve stem seals mate,u need to get that checked out by a specialist.

Valve stem oil seals I seriously hope it isn't.
The people that look after my car reckon it's the turbo. But I do have my doubts because I've seen this type of problem on previous cars I have owned. |
Hmmm... thought there would be more people with an opinion on this!

Blue = oil so it could be as stated above, but you need it checked out as also stated above.
