very quick "chipped" ECU question

hi everyone

been offered the ECU from a '93 WRX wagon that has apparently been chipped by Triton Motorsport for £65... yep not much to go on is it?! is it worth it for the sake of 60quid and a RR session to check how she's running, or just forget about it? I am dubiouse of this kind of plug and play chip...

my car is a standard '97 WRX wagon, and i know they make a bit more power then the older ones, maybe i would break even power/torque wise at best:confused:

regards, Ash

I'm sure that ECU wouldn't fit anyway. The early ones have four plugs and post 96 have only 3 plugs.

Wont fit as Dan said.
Triton Motorsport are my local specialist (if it's the same one that is) and have never known them to 'chip' ecus unless provided by customers.

If its the Triton Subaru "Specialist" near Bournemouth I'd steer WELL clear!!
They "Mapped" my old scooby and failed to notice it had 2 blown pistons!! I had nothing but problems with their work. Nice people.... But the words "arse" & "Elbow" do spring to mind!

i had my old car there, had a boost problem. They changed all the coil packs, no change.charged me £300! I found two days later a bolt missing missing on the i/c pipe, they couldn't even find it! That was only one problem i had!
