Afterburner Xtreme Exhaust System!

Hi

Just saw this exhaust system on scoobyworld!

Impreza Turbo 1993-2000 Classic : Subaru Impreza Afterburner Xtreme rear exhaust

For the ultimate flat four soundtrack and performance, simply straight through, no baffles.

Strictly not for highway use!
Is anyone actually running this with full 3" from the turbo back or know of anyone that is?

What does it sound like? Any video clips?

Would i be mad in wanting to give it a go?

You reckon i could get a baffle for the end aswel just in case i kill my neighbours?

Cheers

If you're gonna shove a baffle in the end of it that kind of defeats the object, mate! ;)

Std Afterburner more than loud enough for most.

Loud exhausts are a novelty at first, but that soon wears thin, especially on long journeys etc...

They can also cause friction with the neighbours and attract unwanted attention from the police. Finally, you'll have trouble getting admission to trackdays (if that's your thing) as many have quite strict noise restrictions in place.

i get what your saying, but the car is mostly used for weekend driving with friends on country roads.. i have another daily car.. so long drives doesnt matter.

and another back box for that matter, just thought, if id fit it onto my decat center and downpipe, it might sound pretty good spesh for a good scooby rumble when driving with friends in other scoobs on weekend.. it only really gets driven once every 2 weeks.

not an evryday car

ha i cant believe i missed that vid link

take it thats the full turbo back system? instead of just the backbox?

i thought it would be louder like my friends vti turbo but hey lol ill talk the missus into this, lol bday present at end of month , sounds better than my exhaust that came on car

Dont do it mate, i couldnt resist buying one, because i thought there is no such thing as too loud;) but trust me its rediculous waste of £200. All it is is a length of pipe and a tip welded on. with it fitted it felt like my car lost power.

I only lasted a week with mine on before taking it of and selling it for peanuts!!

the sound is like a hells angel chopper ratling the streets:eek2:

mshill 21 October 2008 08:48 PM

feck sake £200 for a bit of scaffold tube with a halfords tip bolted onto the end!!

I've got a full 3" decat afterburner R system and that's plenty loud

DANNY_ATKINSON 21 October 2008 08:54 PM

Also it didnt fit rite either I had to have the hanging brackets adjusted, heated up and bent so the tip didnt bang on the back bumper!
bigest waste of £200 ive spent

very poor quality.

Im now runing blitz nur spec r.

eggy, you may want to consider this too: Roger Clark Motorsport - RCM Product Detail... for £170.

Thing is you need a centre pipe with a 3" flange at the back box end (which they also do).

I've not heard this exhaust, but I'm sure it's a real fruit loop :lol1:... I mean, just look at it! lol

Also, being an RCM in house product, the quality's bound to be second to none :)

eggy790 22 October 2008 04:06 PM

wow that roger clark one looks miles better

Roger Clark Motorsport - RCM Product Detail

is the sound similar or the same?

danny: regarding the exhaust.. does it give a good scooby rumble? i can always take it off quick as my mate has a garage. so thats not a problem..

danny wot do you say? should i do it or not? missus is paying? maybe the roger clark one..

I'm sure a lot of members have one - why not put out a thread in 'General Technical' along the lines of 'RCM TEAM ICE BACK BOX - OPINIONS PLEASE ?!?!'
