Wrx gearbox question
Anyone know what the difference between a TY752VB3AA and a TY752VB3FA gearbox is. I know the 3AA is from a 93 wrx and the 3FA is from a 95 wrx and the ratio's are exactly the same so whats different between them.
Is the 3FA any stronger?:wonder: |

According to the list, they are effectively the same box i.e. exactly the same gears ratios, final drive, etc. Does state that 3FA was also used for MY95 STi too - so whether it is stronger, don't know? If you're desperate for an answer you could do a lot worse than PM APIDavid :) |
Bit of a strange one as on paper they look the same :wonder:

Ah well, at least you have the choice of 3AA or 3FA then :)... Helps when looking for a replacement.
Thing is if you do need a replacement, then I'd get one with the 4.111 centre diff (so that you don't have to replace the rear diff)... But get one of the ones with 2nd to 5th as shorter ratios for even better acceleration! i.e. MY93/94 Type RA's 3BA or 3DA... |
Good point. Picked up a 3FA this morning, Had a look at the car it came out of and was gutted. Looked like it was a real nice one before it was rolled.
