Siezed caliper....
Hi folks,
was out in the car there and noticed it holding back a bit....got out to inspect and noticed that the rear passenger side wheel was roasting hot, so im guessing the rear brake is stuck on:brickwall The car has standard single pot rear calipers, so is there an easy way of freeing these up? Is it the piston that is siezed or the sliders for the caliper? If i take the caliper off will I be able to copper grease the sliders/compensators or will this even help me at all?:wonder: Any help appreciated here as im gonna try and fix it tomorrow evening if possible!! Cheers:thumb: |
you will find the pads seized in the carrier or the sliders seized generally........the pistons themselves are less prone to be an issue on that set-up
normally a strip and clean would be sufficient alyn |
Thanks mate, i will strip it tonight and have a look:thumb:

Same problem as mine.
The rear passenger side caliper is binding slightly. I greased the piston slightly and it was fine for around a months but has started doing it again. |
The problem with mine was that the sliders in the calipers were half siezed, one of them was completely siezed into the caliper and was a bugger to get freed up.
I cleaned out the caliper holes and copper greased the sliders before re-fitting, and also greased the pad shims as well, hope its ok now!!:wonder: Kevin |
