RED FELT TIP PEN ON CREAM LEATHER SOFA??????????????:eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

Ms Gooner 1 14 October 2008 02:10 PM

:nono: wouldn't wanna be in your shoes when Mrs 300 gets home?

Do you have insurance on them? If its washable pen (kids pens) you might find a bit of washing up liquid on a sponge - but I'm not 100% it'd work :wonder:

mrs_b4 14 October 2008 02:26 PM

baby wipes just dab or it may smear failling that go to a leather furniture store they often have leather cleaner and stain remover's in pack's for sale

WRX JON 14 October 2008 02:33 PM

Use baby wipes, saddle soap, dreft flakes or washing up liquid ( anything thats not got bleach or anything thats abrasive ) or phone a leather specialist to remove it, but this will be expensive. You can also buy ink remover but this only works if the ink is still wet

I'm in agreement with you there - one of my kids drew with a biro on my sofa  - wet wipes didn't work so i used some "Flash" - and it made my sofa go all "bobbly" LOL - took me a while to sort that little mess out - but having dark sofa's helps LOL (and the biro is STILL there) :wonder:

fitzscoob 14 October 2008 05:34 PM

If you remember where the sofa came from, phone the company and ask them if they sell a cleaning kit.

Remember not all leathers are the same, some can be cleaned in ways and others not. Dont rub too hard as you will remove the dye from the leather.

I use a combination of cleaning products at work depending on the leather I am using. Baby wipes are a good shout, if that doesnt work and you cant buy a cleaning kit then look to see if the place you bought it from has a technician they use. Obviously there is a cost in this.

One of the tanneries I use sell a cleaning kit for their leathers, and part of it is a stick which looks like a lipbalm, that takes biro off leather. This only works on their leathers however. Tanneries use all different chemical mixes and depending on the raw material used in the begining will effect how the products clean.

If you are not fussed, and dont want to pay out for a guy to come out, then with caution and on a part of the leather you cant see (underneath, back against the wall etc), get a clean cloth, non coloured, and try whitespirit - be careful with this as it will more often than not remove the dye too - so try it on a non visible part first, see how you go.

It's going to sound stupid ...... But have you tried WD-40 :thumb:

pezzza 15 October 2008 10:32 AM

Although it may be abrasive, i use neat bleach on mine, rub with a wetwipe and remove straight away, works fine and doesn't leave any mess.

Rub GENTLY on the patch that has pen marks, using a circle motion, and then wipe away........

I have a cream leather suite, and do this to clean once a month, keeps clean and also makes suite smell nice and fresh.

has Kelly killed him???
