Turbo Problem? HELP!
 

Hey everyone, ive got this whole thing copied from another site.. it describes exactly what my problem is, but this site does not have the answer i was looking for so i decided to copy and paste it into here to see if other subaru drivers could shed some light on my problem!


"Hi, i have a '92 Subaru Legacy Gt (turbo) jap. import. with 153000km and in manual.
Like many others i have a problem that no body seems to be able to solve, in that the turbo wont "kick in" properly at times (though will still give very lite boost, according to the gauge i had installed to try and shed some light) and at the same time the car becomes quite ruff in it's delivery. I have had it checked many times by subaru and diagnosed with the computer check they do, as well as having coils, boost presure and various other things checked, all with no result. The biggest problem being the intermitent nature of it, as the other half of the time it runs faultlessly.."

2 things spring to mind I've heard of...
1/ Wastegate sticking partially open so boost control as its starts to boost is poor
2/ Duf knock sensor

How do you fix a wastegate that is stuck open?

take clip off the pin that connects the actuator arm to it the make sure that part opens and closes and then pull out the arm a few times and make sure it springs back in..
