AP Racing Brake Calipers???
 

Hi guys, i've just done a favour for a friend and he has asked me if i want a set of AP Racing brake calipers for my subaru, i was just wandering how much and how easy it is to get the brake pads and discs, and also do they only do one size brake disc from AP racing??? Cheers guys:)

best place is to ask godspeed, they do all sort of brake kits

AP Racing do kits for fast road use and for full on competition.

The road kits are here and there are 9 different kits for classic and new age cars from 4 pot to 6 pot and for use with 16" to 19" wheels.

Competiton cars will use a full range of kits up to 8 pot, 4 pad, calipers for WRC cars on tarmac. Older WRC or race cars even had water cooled calipers.

So to just say he's offered you AP calipers isn't too useful.

Pads are usually easily available in a range of compounds. Other aftermarket calipers, like Willwood and Hi Spec (wash my mouth out....), use the same shape pads as AP just because AP have such a good range of pads available.

Discs are available but aren't cheap, up to £150 each for big AP venties.

The critical thing is that you'll need a set of custom bells to fit an off the shelf AP disc to the Subaru hub in the right place for the caliper and a caliper adaptor to put the caliper (usally lug mount) in the right place for the disc. So if your mate's calipers don't come with bells and adaptors you could well pay more for a custom set of bells and adaptors, plus discs and pads, than you would pay for a complete brake kit.

That is spot on lads, i'll try and get some more info on the calipers. I don't mind paying that sort of price for brake discs aslong as i can get them. Would godspeed be able to supply me the bits?

All i would say is dont be tied to a one man band.......
