Perrin are poo!!

time for a moan. got my wing stiffi's this morning and could not wait to fit them. after spending hours on them ive given up and taken them all off. they were rubbish. the quality of them is very poor and the fit is even worse. they had a gap at the top of about 5mm and they didnt reach the bottom part of the spoiler. absolute crap. pardon my french.

maybe these were seconds, i dont know, but all i will say is - buyer beware.

to say i feel robbed, upset, angry is an understatement. they were damn expensive. i now have all 5 in the bin.

well, thats it, moan over.

time for summit to eat. :)

cant you send them back?

HT04 10 October 2008 03:00 PM

hhhmmm, i dunno. thats another thing i didnt mention. you have to drill the holes in the top of them yourself. so now they are not new anymore.

Turbotits 10 October 2008 03:19 PM

Glad you asked first:wonder: - I was thinking it was perhaps something most of us men wake up with anyway:lol1:

HT04 10 October 2008 03:32 PM

its a vertical fin, stabilizer, that goes between top and bottom of the 04' sti rear wing. looks cool ( to some poeple ), and stops the wing flexing , check out the link..

oh its easy alright. but the damn things dont fit. beleive me. the gaps are huge and if you think im filing it with 'double sided tape', then think again. lol.

im still smiling tho, although i think thats because its not gonna be long now till im eating a chicken vindaloo and rice. hhhmmmmmmmm yummy. :)

Turbotits 10 October 2008 04:40 PM

Boyakasha 10 October 2008 05:24 PM

I was going to get these from the TSL deal that was running, glad I didn't now.

DarrenSTI 10 October 2008 05:33 PM

They not for another model of rear wing are they?. Im not aware they do different models. Shame because I looked to these, they do look good, was only gonna get 2 tho as per that vid, not 5.

phil_wrx 10 October 2008 09:04 PM

Do to slight variance in wings, if a large gap between wing and Wing Stiffy is found please call tech support. There may not be a solution
to this problem.

That says to me try them in place before you drill, remove the tape etc etc, otherwise your chuffed.
So if you buy them and they will not fit your wing you should be able to return them.

i fitted 2 of these to mine quite some time ago now, must admit its a bit of a fiddly job but mine fit ok and no gaps anywhere.ordered mine straight from perrin in the us.

Good chance there have been subtle changes at different MY's especially as Perrin are US based and theres ofetn change things an MY early than us, for example new Forester is an 08 in the US and an 09 over here.

how have you fitted yours like that? the spacing of the holes in the top part of the wing make that impossible to fit like that. have you just used double sided tape top and bottom?

they look about rite to me,think you could do with having a look at someone elses spoiler just to check there is no difference with yours as it sounds like you may have a slightly different spoiler on.

mantazini 11 October 2008 12:57 PM

I think that they've been made for the original sti spoiler, and there is a chance that aftermarket spoilers , which you put on the wrx could be slightly diffrerent size.

HT04 11 October 2008 12:59 PM

who said i had a wrx. ??? i have a genuine sti and genuine sti spoiler. who said wrx

I had the same problem with perrin. Crap. So for the hell of it I bought some pqy off wish. I know what you're thinking. But they were actually a better fit. Not perfect. Still had a small gap but small enough to push down on the spoiler top and bond it with master bond off ebay. Sets like rubber. They're going nowhere. 👍

Neil Scooby Wagg 02 November 2019 01:12 PM

Also there should be a piece on the underside of the top of your spoiler that screws in. Remove that and screw through that into the fin. I stuck the bottom of mine with master bond. Its the stuff they use to fit new windscreens. Put a ratchet strap or two around the spoiler for 20 minutes. Job done. Hope this helps somebody. 😁
