I'm proposing this hard question...
Which would you go for? Main differences? |
depends what u r after.
I do like the 22B they look lovely, and apparantly drive extremely well, and also has a wide-body, 2.2litre engine and is one of only 400. I have not driven a P1, however I own an STI IV Type-R Coupe (now not really one of them anymore, but once was) and I loved the car - was much better than any 4-door! I guess it is all down to personal taste, but I would always go for a coupe, as I just think 4-door, is a family mans car, and I am too young to have one of them! |

www.22b.com 22B fantastic car but not worth the extra hassle compared to my second hand STi 2 BRD development wagon that is 75% as fast for a fraction of the price  One famous 22B Hobbit was even considering fitting P1 suspension to his 22B for the "UK tuned suspension" I await that project with interest  |
It's the best car ever seen

22Bs are so gucking forgeous

I hope to enjoy my 22B ownership soon, almost as much as witnessing a conman I know going to prison for a very long time  |
22b's p1ss on P1's: there is no argument. And 22b's hold their value too.

What is the current damage to 22B EGO then Anders?
I presume to do with this criminal... not Bin Larden... :) Hope you get it sorted and sorry if you have been through this story many times, or quite possibly would rather not discuss it. Cheers JGM. PS: Back to the subject... if you can afford a 22B then why as the question.. it is without doubt the legend and best Impreza ever... so far anyway... any plans for a 22C or something? :) |
Dont know if its true but ive heard the 22b engine is not that strong and many of them are on there second or third engines even after low miles .
|
22b engines are physically very strong because they have closed deck blocks.
The rods and pistons are the same as any other sti. Only difference is it uses 2.0 heads but the bore of the 2.2 is larger and the standard heads are unmodified. This gives a sharp edge in the combustion chamber which leads to a hot spot, whihc promotes det. This emans the car is more prone to det. people seem to think the car is therefore weaker but since there are roughly 380 left in the world in tact, you are more likely to hear about failures. I dont think statistically they are any worse than any other impreza. |
whats the cheapest 22b's are going for at the mo...
I was offered a very special one at 24K 2 months back but I couldnt justify that sort of spend at the time... |
Surely there is bound to be more failures on the 22b because it is not going to be driven softly now it is.... :)
|
"whats the cheapest 22b's are going for at the mo..."
Guess it all depends whether you're talking import or UK-spec, and mileage/condition. Autotrader has them ranging from £28K (57K miles) all the way up to £38K (2K miles). |
The 22B is 100% the top dogs danglers typa mota.
P1 nice, 22B Outa this world. Ian |
Some 22b are free in the short term.
:( Looking forward to justice  :D |
Will we ever see your 22B restored to it's former glory?
