Slipping Power steering belt and battery help ?
Morning,
My power steering belt is slipping.. how to I find it on a MY99 UK turbo 2000 and how do I fix it ? without replacing if possible ? Also I need a new battery... will my tracker, alarm etc cause me any issues swapping it over ?? |
er ... really need to get this sorted this morning ... anyone ? Please ... :(

Belt is under the bonnet at the front of the engine bay (did I really have to type that LOL, sorry! ). It can be tightened via an adjuster bolt at the side of the alternator with a socket, I think it 12mm IIRC.
Just swap the battery and keep the alarm remote handy. It may go off when disconnecting/reconnect. But it will only go off for a maximum of 30seconds anyway, so no big deal if it does sound. Tracker should be ok, as it has its own battery (thats if its is a tracker, sold by "TRACKER Ltd" ), if its of another brand, you need to check with someone else, I think the RAC tracker are ok too. |
Any advice when tightening the belt ??

Well I did it ... I dunno how tight to make it, but I remembered with the fan belt on my jeep, you need to leave some slack .. so I did .. its not making the noise at the moment. I also changed the battery ... these are really big steps for me !! lol
What do I do with the old battery ? |
Your local tip will take it free of charge.
Glad you got it sorted! |
