Praise to the NHS Direct guys

NHS Direct - Health & Medical Information

Woke up last night with a pain just below my right nipple, hurt more when I tried to breath in and when I moved... being a sleep before hand seemed to cause me to panic and it wasn't a pleasant feeling.

I called the NHS direct and spoke to a male nurse called Andy, he was great. He went through all the checks with me and made me calm down... he thinks its a muscle pain and after 20 minutes or so it passed.

I assume I've pulled something running and I must have been lying in a funny position in bed.. (legs over my head or something :) ) .. I was feeling a twinge all day before hand... its gone now.

Anyway... my point is that if you need any medical advice call these guys... 24/7, this is the third time in a year I've called them for myself and my family and they have saved a trip to A&E !!

:luxhello: :notworthy

Its the people at the sharp end of the NHS who keep it all going. And all for the right reasons.

actually had pretty much the same pain you did at the start of the year. was starting to panic as being only 28 i thought a chest pain like that is not good.
luckily it turns out to be a strained muscle and nerve damage somehow.

got checked out anyway just to be safe but thankfully seems ok.

annoyingly though still get the ache now and again but nowhere near as bad. guess the muscle just takes a long time to heal as its always being used.

on the plus side i know what to look for if it is serious

My experiences with NHS direct are that they are a complete waste of time - and I work in the NHS.
