With the demise of Goudies in Glasgow (where I bought the car), I'm wondering where to take the MY98 for servicing from now on.
Preferably close to Edinburgh and with a garage that offers a courtesy car. The only official Subaru dealer in the area is Noble's in Penicuik. Does anyone have experience of them as a service provider and a contact name? I'd like to establish a good relationship with someone as I'm about to order another car from Europe. Thanks for any help..... |
Sorry, this should have been posted in the 'dealer' forum.
I'll get the hang of this one-day! |
Yeah I do.
Aside from telling me that my clutch judder was a feature of the car (and to be fair to them my clutch isn't that bad anyway), they have been really good and I will happily continue to use them. Contact name is Colin Noble. Rich :) |
Thanks Rich,
I will give Colin a phone when the next service is due. Do you know if they provide courtesy cars to people who didn't buy from them? Cheers, Mike. |
Yes I think they do.
I didn't buy my car from them, and I'm pretty sure they've offered me a courtesy car before although I've never actually needed one. At any rate, you would need to ask to book the courtesy car at the time of booking your scoob in. Don't hold me to this - I might be wrong... All the best Rich :) P.S. - the reception people are pretty good anyway, so you don't need to ask for Colin. Obviously it's helpful to know who's in charge if you have a problem, but I'm sure you'll be looked after by any of the team. |
I live in Edinburgh and have just bought a WRX from Europe (via Trade Sales in Slough) Went to Nobles first and very helpful and gave a great test drive in a WRX with PPP. Unfortunately hopelessly out on offering discount on price. Interestingly when tried to persuade me not to buy the import, they did "warn" me that if I did, it would not get priority in the service dept. Interesting line.
Needless to say, when the sales guy rang to chase me and found out I'd bought from elsewhere, he did mention that I should take it to them for servicing..... Interested to know how you get on |
I would think that a Subaru dealer makes around £2000 to £3000 profit on the sale of a brand new WRX.
I've paid far more than that on regular servicing costs at Goudies in the 3 years and 92,000 miles I've done since purchasing it from them. Whether it's bought from Nobles or not, I guess they wouldn't want to turn away that kind of money. Let me know the reaction when you book it in for service. Mike. |
I've used Nobles always very pleasant and relatively efficient - as good as any other garage I've used. Certainly offer courtesy car, I've just booked my MY99 into get some bodywork done and I'll probably be screaming at a Justy for the best part of a week!!! As for purchase, I guess I'll reinforce the statement on come and go on price - not too willing to barter on anything. Then again I found the indifference at Goudies and Town & Country in Eaglesham gobsmacking...... sometimes the sales guys who treat you like dirt don't deserve the cash.

Towser,
Glad someone else has experienced the same. Town & Country in Perth refused outright to service MY01, said it was company policy not to service imports. With policies like that it's no wonder that Anderson Cars (who were there before them) went bust. Will try Nobles at the next service, but don't like the sound of the 2-3k over 3 years...........??? I have just had a 30k service on my turbo carried out by Kenneth Melville (ERROL) Ltd a Subaru dealer situated just outside Perth on the Dundee road. It cost £320 and a courtesy car was provided. A friendly family business and £100 cheaper than Town and Country of Perth. Well worth a look.Tel No 01821 670242. |
