Twin turbo Legacy will be easier on your back - you've got some seriously bumpy roads in Ireland http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Hi all,

I know its been been a while sence my last post here, I have been away and very busy. I quick up date, I no long own a subaru of any type, I got a import mx3, and had abit of tuning work done :-), it quick in a straight line, but very bad handleing around any corners. Anyway, My question is, I'll be looking for another subaru in the next year or so, and was wondering about a legacy 4x4 turbo compared to the Impreza??

I live in Ireland so the first problem is price, a WRX 93' will cost about 14K but a legacy, about 6K

Does any one have some advice???

Cheers

You would have to be off your rocker to pay £14k for a 93 WRX. You should be able to get them for around £10k now or a 96/97 Irish one for £15to £18k. I paid £17.5k for a 98 5 door turbo 4 months ago. Having test driven a twin turbo Legacy and single Turbo Irish Legacy before the Impreza,I preferred the Impreza and the re-sale is far better than the Legacy. Happy hunting and make sure you get a good one.

It all adds to the fun of it.

My Dad took out my Impreza (WRX) and was blown away, but......

He said comfort blahblah, cruise control blahblah, interior space blahblah, OK if you're young blahblah and promptly went out the next weekend to buy the Legacy!!

I've driven it and fine, if you do tons of miles/you're 50/you're scared ( http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif) the legacy is great.

But if you like the DRIVING side of things, I think the Impreza would be the better bet as the Legacy feels so much bigger and heavier in comparison.

The other reason he didn't go the Impreza route was fear that he'd keep pushing the limits until one day he got too confident and ended up a strawberry flan against some tree!!

2 very different cars - decide what you want from your car first and then decide on which one.

Happy choosing http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I have a m8 who has driven both quite a lot ( he works in a dealers ) and in his opinion on your average bumpy Irish road an impreza wouldn't hold a candle to the legacy on standard suspension . I would agree with him as I drive a legacy . Unless you intend to do a lot of track driving go for the legacy as you will probably never find the limits or either car on a public road .

Hi.
I would reccomend you buy a legacy turbo saloon. They are soooooo cheap in japan.Get someone in Dublin to import it for you.Warning. A friend who has imported lots of mx5's tells me lots of bits go missing at the docks.Get the car set up to run on whatever fuel you can get(Re-Map job) Change tyres They tend to be crap. What you will have will be a bargain .they tend to be even better looked after. Very disceet which is a very strong point if you out and about a lot.
Spend the rest on good track day schools
and you will upset loads of poorly set up imprezza's with "max power" type drivers
Be lucky

For when you HAVE to get from A to B..... Legacy

For when you're going from A to B JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT..... Impreza http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Thats the difference

(BTW, hope I didn't offend anyone over 50 with my earlier post!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif)
