Not too sure about a 1998, but mine is a 1997 and I had to wait ages to register it so that it could be exempt from sva test and model report, once its exempt its very straight foward, just get it mot'd and pop down to your local dvla office with all the vehicle documents (jap) fill in some forms and they will register it for you 4 - 5 working days :thumb:

been doing a bit of research on here. the car is modified, in that it has a front mount intercooler an a few other engine mods. from what i ve read its harder to SVA a modded car?

dont want to be stuck with a car i can t register!

thanks for your reply

pay a bit extra and get a road legal one.

thats my advice.

I'm sure there are other registered Type Rs going...have you had a look at the Auto Trader / Top Marques website? Pound for pound they are the scoobs to have especially for sprinting purposes. Had a STI V4 Type R in sonic blue - sold it but miss it loads! :thumb:

PM me and I'll put in touch with a guy who does importing of Jap imports.

been to look at this type r this morning. first impressions looked well sounded well. then took a drive in it........

car was very spluttery. backfired a bit. crunched going into 5th gear. didnt feel like it was bosting right at all. few clunks from the diff at slower speeds when fully locked.

model code was GC8F2ED

i checked in the boot and the wheel well was completely flooded.
such a shame cos it looked like such a beautiful car...

heres a few pics anyways.

looking at that car mate...im pretty certain you could get a better 1 for u money!!

At slow speed if your making tight turns, the diff will clunk if its locked. Something to do with wheel speeds on full lock (steering lock)

Looks a bit tatty tbh.
