Tips / Advice needed on prepping trim for car paint!
 

After obtaining a few £££:confused: quotations on the best side of a years car insurance for painting a couple of plastic exterior bits (scoop and side skirts, possibly bumper) ive decided to have a bash myself, if Edd China can do it then its good enough for me, which hopefully will be a rewarding experience:lol1:

Im not expecting an amazing professional finish from a can in my Garage, and would leave any larger panels for the guys in the trade, but for the minor items in question i think its worth having a bash! Even if i have to make a couple of attempts.:wonder:

Now i know that the art of a good finish is in the preparation, so If any pro's in the know out there can give me some "step by step" pre-paint tips in prep and grades of papers and types of paint / primers / thinners i need to use then that would be great. Also with the plastic trim items i intend to paint would i need a flexible based paint product?

You need a compressor and gun, total waste of time trying to do it in squirty cans, it never sticks or looks good! Where are you based?

yr wrong there m8.......good result "can" be achieve with good prep and carefull planning , you may come to some trouble when it comes to applying the top coat of laquare as the bodyshop use 2pack which you cannot get in a spray can :(
