WRX PPP Remap after Limp ECU reset?

Just bought a 03' WRX that has PPP but in one of the many receipts that came with the car there is a £30 charge off Scoobyclinic for an ECU reset and "run on optimax" advisory. Just wondered if this means the car has lost it's PPP remap?

Sounds like a CEL came up after running on normal unleaded petrol.
The CEL was cleared by an ECU reset and the customer was told to use Optimax or other higher Octane fuel.
The reset just clears any fault codes and allows the timing to be optimised - the PPP map wasn't removed.

Cheers bud, kinda got a bit worried after a Civic Type R kept up with me! Going to book in with 'The Racing line' now to get an AVC-R fitted and RR session to make sure everything is how it should be.

Civic Type R has a power to weight ratio of 166bhp / tonne
WRX PPP 190bhp / tonne

Once rolling, the benefits of 4WD work against you due to the increased drag.

Don't get too hung up about it.:) :) Be interested to hear what your RR figure is..

Just a quick question. why are you getting an AVCR ? The OEM boost control is pretty good if mapped properly :D

AVCR was the only BC mentioned when I used to own an Evo. Looks good too!

boost control on the standard evo ecu is rubbish in comparison to the scoob.. no need for a boost controller.. if getting it setup just get the ecu remapped..
will be a safer and easier option for similar money to AVC-R plus fitting and RR session.

:lol1:

so a wire would be run through from the ECU with some sort of control?

Stainy 29 September 2008 08:53 PM

It's switched using full throttle and the rear screen heater

/edit At least I think that's it, I didn't bother on mine as only I ever drive it :thumb:

Think I'll get an avcr.

Stainy 30 September 2008 04:10 PM

Ecutek does everything you want. As well, if not better than the alternative and you want to throw more money at it :wonder:
