Sti 2.5 oil in the header tank!!!

One of my neighbours has a 55 plate sti 2.5, he called me over today and he has slime which looks like oil in the header tank! I removed the radiator cap and dipped my finger in and there were black very small lumps which when you rub them between your finger feel like oil!

There is no sign at all of water in the oil!

Anyone any ideas??

He also said he has been putting in about 1 litre of oil per thousand miles, and yes i checked he was putting it in the correct place, is that sort of oil consumption normal??

If it was a knackered Diesel I'd expect it to possibly need that much oil but not a Scooby:Suspiciou

Sounds like head gasket to me. Is there mayo looking stuff on the oil filler cap?

First place i looked was the oil filler to look for creamy oil but the cap is clean?

Is is possible for the oil pressure to out balance the water pressure with the result being oil in the water and not the normal water in the oil!!
